they have always had our prescriptions ready on time. The counter service on collection of the prescriptions
has always been good. All items always in stock. Friendly polite staff.

No social distancing measures during pandemic

My wife has a prescription for a chest condition, as you can imagine we are both very concerned about her risk should she contract Coronavirus. Her stock of her treatment is beginning to run low, so with some trepidation today was the day to collect a prescription. To reduce the risk she phoned the surgery and arranged for the prescription to go directly to your pharmacy and then phoned the pharmacy to check that it was ready for collection assuming that you would have a system to make the process as smooth and risk free as possible. Given that many of your customers like my wife carry extra risk from this wretched illness, I was stunned to see that customers are not requested to wear face coverings, that there is no one way system, no apparent limit on customer numbers and that people collecting prepared prescriptions are not in any way fast tracked through. My wife had to wait in a shop with several others and when it came to payment the card reader was passed over another customer who appeared unwilling to move to allow for social distancing. Some of your customers may not appreciate the risks associated with this disease, but surely your staff do? In addition to the actual risk there is the stress that poorly thought out procedure creates. After weeks of extreme care, online deliveries etc. My wife was obliged to have more close contact with others in one five minute period than in the last month, all in order to collect a prescription for a chest condition. Please try to make your customers feel safer than we did today.

I am sorry to hear that you did not have a positive experience at Aldeburgh Pharmacy.

The measures that we have put in place since the beginning of the pandemic are:
-installation of Perspex screens at the counter
-installation of physical barriers to prevent customers getting too close to each other and staff
-staff wearing face masks
-regular cleaning of surfaces
-controlling the number of customers in the shop
-posters to remind customers about social distancing

We have only recently increased the number of customers allowed in the shop to four, it had previously been two for many weeks.

Regarding the customers wearing face masks, we would certainly encourage it. The current advice from the Department of Health and Social Care is that patients are advised to 'consider wearing face coverings' in pharmacies, but it is not a requirement.

The staff are aware of the social distancing rules and do their best to try and ensure that all customers are observing them.

My staff and I have worked tirelessly since the start of the pandemic and have experienced unprecedented levels of demand, and stock shortages. Our prescription delivery service doubled overnight to meet the needs of our customers in isolation. We have retained our usual opening times throughout, only closing briefly for lunch for a few days to catch up on cleaning and restocking.

Having been constantly in the frontline trying to deal with the crisis the best we can, it's very disappointing and disheartening to receive a one star review.

However, I will take your comments onboard and discuss them with my team. We will review our current procedures to try and see if it's possible to introduce a one way system, or more secure way of collecting prescriptions.

Stock control issues

On more than one occasion, this pharmacy has been out of stock for one or more of a tablet that is part of a larger order. I had to walk there this last week and they did not have one particular tablet, so I now have to get it re-prescribed and have to go and pick it up in Leiston.
