Had to go home to ring in!

Popped in with my wife to ask for assistance. I was told 'no, you cannot make appointment here, you need to ring in.' Found this ridiculous, 'but I'm here!' I said and they said, 'sorry but that's our policy.' Yet someone else did the same, getting their child to speak for them even though they were talking well in front of me, and they were seated and seen to. I don't begrudge them, I just want consistency!
