Incorrect dosage of medication sent
November 22, 2024
Boots dispensed the incorrect dosage of medication for an elderly, vulnerable patient. The GP had changed the dosage two weeks before the previous medication ran out, but the pharmacy did not update their system. As a result, the patient took the wrong dosage for two weeks, leading to alarmingly high blood pressure. A relative discovered the error, and Boots admitted their mistake but required a new prescription for the correct dosage. Despite contacting the health centre, the extra medication was not provided for two weeks. As the patient's carer, I had to call the doctor's surgery to get another prescription. This took some time as there where problems with the delivery of medication to the house. It was unclear if the medication was going to be delivered, collected or awaiting to be dispensed.
Boots should have contacted the patient to resolve the issue promptly. This error could have had serious consequences and delayed the benefits of the correct dosage.
We have also had issues with not receiving delivery medication, The delivery driver calls to say he is on his way, but does not turn up. My elderly parent has waited near the door for deliveries that do not arrive. This has resulted in her running out of medication. There is then a rush to collect more from the pharmacy. We still don't know what has happened to the medication which was not delivered.

incompetent staff, mess in IT systems,no help

My medicine was refused for sale despite the regular 60 day collection deadline. This situation repeated itself several times in the past. I was deprived of access to regular medication, which I have to take every day. Despite my best efforts, I still do not take any medications, which worsens my health.

At the moment the phone line is going to opticians central booking line, when I get medication delivered there's usually something missing for either my son or myself, it takes all day to get them to answer the phone when it's working
Can't get through on the phone, ever.

The staff are all lovely people, but unfortunately that's where the praise ends. Mistakes happen almost every month, and I only have 4 items on my prescription. The only way to order medication is to go into the branch, as they *never* answer the phone. They clearly do not have enough staff for the number of patients they deal with.
sunday is bad service day in the pharmacy

sometimes get the prescription wrong on a Sunday (locum pharmacist ) but how I'm not sure because it's checked by two people who are meant to be qualified . and when they are asked questions they are quite rude when replying, but seems to be just Sunday this happens .
Rubbish yet again

My prescriptions which I order myself are sent electronically to boots. I have never received a text from them in anything less than 5 days. Went in yesterday after 6 days of waiting and they hadn’t even dispensed it. One time recently I went in after 2 weeks and they hadn’t even printed it out. I asked why it takes so long and the pharmacist says it is just one of those things. I shall be changing my pharmacy.

I called over 119 times over a week and the pharmacy never answered. It’s not the first time and not all my tablets haven been there and yet again. They are suppose to text when ready, haven’t been doing it. I’ve been getting delivered, but not done that either. They have got confused and given me one lot of old ones instead of my new tablets. I did get to a stage where I had 10days before running out, but now it’s two and I can’t. They are suppose to reorder each month and text, but nothing. Now it’s urgent cause only 2days left of one lot and I don’t know if they have even ordered them. Still not got through, am worried. Not been able to go out either.
