Continuing Healthcare

HS Continuing Healthcare is an assessment process and funding stream to support people with complex on-going healthcare needs. Everyone is different, and things do change. The NHS Continuing Healthcare package is sometimes used instead of or even alongside a social care package. It depends on the individual and their needs. Regular review for those people with an NHS Continuing Healthcare package means that individuals get the care they need at the right time.

Having to reapply

May 31, 2024
Have had to reapply after the funding was removed for my husband who is receiving palliative care. The challenges faced going through this system are so difficult to deal with and there was a gap of 6 months between the care stopping and then restarting.

Assessment is flawed

February 28, 2018
The assessment process is flawed. The way in which they are with you is awful, there is no explanation when you are not eligible, no feedback is given, you are just told you can go to tribunal which is even more stressful. The condition is clearly a health issue so we can't understand why its been turned down. Those who did the assessment couldn't understand why continuing healthcare was not granted.
