I was No. 11 in the queue when I rang at 8am.
I was told I couldn't have an appointment with the Dr as she was very busy. I explained the diabetic nurse had told me to see her quickly as I had no feeling in my feet and I also had a sore weeping rash on my stomach, chest and other places. The receptionist told me I could see the nurse for dressings but when I asked if they could give prescriptions for cream as the Dr has been doing, she suddenly told me to ring 111. I find this extremely unhelpful. I rang in time, I was 11th in the queue, and expected to be given a doctor's appointment. That's why we're signed up with doctors after all. I do not agree that a receptionist should prioritise who gets an appointment and who doesn't. Everyone who asks should be given one until all spaces are full, and patients should not be told they're not chosen for one, in so many words. The system is rotten! I now have to spend all weekend in discomfort instead of being treated and if I get through early on Monday who's to say I won't be rejected again for an appointment? No-one should have the power to choose who is lucky enough to get in to see the doctor, it should be strictly first come, first seen!
