Geriatric mother, 2nd time delivery at Ipswich
This was my second delivery - my first being at Colchester and now at Ipswich. Care from conception (following plus 5 miscarriages) was excellent. Main area of difficulty is the limited care offered after a number of miscarriages after the first 2 due to age. Very disconcerting being called geriatric, this added to both stress and anxiety throughout. Birth swift - consultant knowledgeable, however needs to be mindful of communication when dealing with stressful situations. All midwives were kind, knowledgeable and caring. Support workers on post natal care were very sharp at times - and could remember that parents may have been in a stressful delivery and do not need to be made to feel bad for very small things ie breastfeeding questions - at one point following an interaction I sobbed which I should not be feeling after birth. Also limited post natal care - however I did not feel I needed this.
