Ixworth Pharmacy

Inefficient, bureaucratic, far too slow

This pharmacy works "hand in glove" with the GP practice. All prescriptions are automatically forwarded there following a GP appointment. It appears to be a very busy service and employs a large number of people including a "robot" however it is painfully slow. There is invariably a queue and I have regularly had to wait more than 20 minutes following a GP visit before my prescription can be collected. There is an automatic renewal of prescription service but once again one has to queue and it is never a straightforward matter of collecting the drugs requested as very often they are awaiting delivery or a substitution has been made. Pricing and charging for prescriptions seems erratic On the plus side there is a private consulting room and the pharmacist on duty has generally been very helpful. I feel sorry for anyone in regular need of medical treatment as they must have set aside an unfair proportion of their time in order to receive the medication they require. I imagine Doctors are unaware of the time being wasted by their patients following GP consultations. Ideally I would like to collect my prescription and take it elsewhere but this is never offered.
