Doctor did a google search for advice

I was told by my midwife to see my GP to ask if I was able to take piriton while pregnant for food allergies. I booked an appointment. I waited in the waiting room for over an hour for my appointment. When I finally saw the doctor he told me he wasn't an allergy specialist and that I should talk to my midwife. I explained that my midwife had sent me to him. He then proceeded to do a google search and look on the piriton web pages (which I could have done from home). He ended up saying that it was my choice whether to take it or not as there wasn't enough evidence as to whether it would or wouldn't harm the baby. I appreciate that doctors need to be thorough with each patient, but to wait for over an hour to see a doctor and then watch him do a google search was a bit excessive.
