A serious fall not referred to GP
My mother fell twice at the care home and on neither occasion was a medical examination sought. Two days after the second fall, a Practice Nurse was in attendance and on examining my mother immediately recognised a broken hip. The response of the manager to my comment was that it was 'hard to diagnose'. During the intervening two days well-meaning staff were encouraging my mother to get up, sit in her chair and go to the toilet. My mother was moved to the dementia floor as she was disturbed by noise downstairs when she was unwell. We asked several times to have her moved downstairs in subsequent months as she values the garden and found dementia residents disturbing as they continually entered her room. This was refused. Many staff are very caring and my mother grew fond of them.
