Macular eye surgery

About six weeks ago I experienced a problem with my right eye. Not sure where to go, doctor or optician, l decided to get advice from Boots Opticians in Sudbury. The 0hthalmologist examined my eyes almost immediately and then made an immediate referral to the Eye Clinic at West Suffolk Hospital. Within a week I received an appointment with them, where I had eye tests a scan and consultation. My diagnosis being a Rupture in the Macular. I was informed that I could attend the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital for surgery using local anaesthetic, as I have heart disease and general anaesthetic is not advisable. I attended the Norfolk and Norwich where my eye was repaired. The whole experience was unbelievable. I was greeted by a very pleasant nurse who explained everything that would happen to me, and then began my preparation for the procedure. A Dr came to see me just before the operation, as we had not met before, he had accepted my referral direct from West Suffolk Eye Clinic. The operation took approximately half an hour, after which I was given coffee and biscuits. Finally another nurse gave me very precise discharge information, and assured me I had direct contact to the Clinic if needed. The whole experience was carried out confidently, calmly, and with the inmost care, and all done in under six weeks. I have a follow up visit in August.
