Fair but hard to get appointments
October 3, 2017
My surgery run the system of calling at 8 am on the day you need an appointment. You can book in advance but that doesn't help if you need to see some one that day. I call for for sometimes more than half an hour and when I finally get through I'm told that all appointments for morning surgery have gone and I need to call later to try to get an afternoon appointment.. They will not issue afternoon appointments when you call in the morning
Poor

Oulton Medical Centre service is poor BUT CQC shut the Centre down with very little notice. The CCG are saying even though Oulton was built as a Medical Centre it won't be reopening as a surgery but they will be building a new health centre somewhere else!
5000 patients were transferred to Victoria Road Surgery, 5000 to Bridge Road; so it's now really difficult to get appointments at these surgeries. Lots of elderly people in parish and there are no bus services to take them to Bridge Road or Victoria Road. Where's their choice?

Wouldn't refer me

The practice wouldn't refer me to the hospital for an ongoing problem, instead they left me for 12 weeks. I then decided to change practice. The new practice referred me straight away, I was operated on Immediately and this saved my life. If I stayed Oulton Medical Centre I don't think I would be alive today.
Surgery needs major improvement

My grandad called the practice as he was in so much pain & struggling to breathe, staff were rude and told him he would have a house visit in a couple hours. They never turned up so he called again later during the day and no one turned up at all that day. He then collapsed and was only found as a family member popped in the following day.
He was in intensive care for 6 days and then stayed in hospital for 2 weeks extra. Prior to this the doctors had missed numerous home visits as promised and they didn't take him seriously when he had been to them with the same complaint for weeks before this. Also, he had an appointment to have the district nurse come to him as the surgery promised when he came out of hospital. They never attended and cannot be relied on. Home visits since have not been attended & he had a call from the surgery asking him about his care plan and asked him questions they should know but it was like they lost his notes.
