Right to Respond

Healthwatch is committed to providing a transparent and honest view of health and social care services. This is your opportunity as the health or social care provider to have your say on comments the public have left. It is designed to be constructive and allow both sides to have a fair and equal say in the matter so please:

  • Keep the language and tone civil
  • Don't mention personal details
  • Make it relevant to the review

Remember, your response will be seen by everyone who reads your organisation's comments, not just the original reviewer. Your reply is a good opportunity to acknowledge any comments received.

Lack of accommodation

I am 83 my balance is rapidly deteriorating and I live in a remote rural location. I have attempted to get into very sheltered housing close to my partner and within reach of basic services ie a clinic, shops, Ipswich Hospital and arrange of amenities. I have been turned down by Suffolk CC social services and expected to make my own arrangements. Suffolk CC place care home level people with, for example, dementia, those who are wheelchair bound and even the blind in very sheltered accommodation thus enabling those like myself, your organisation to use a current rest home avoiding an 'elephant in the room' which distracts from a more basic problem, in short you concentrate on soft targets.
