Good service

Recently I've started using the service and its been great. I've been picked up 3 times so far, each has been in good time to get to my appointments on time. After my appointments staff then let them know I'm finished and on two occasions I've been picked up from the department waiting room with in 10 minutes. I was quite relieved that I was dropped off at Colchester, the parking and distance to walk to the hospital looked like quite a trek.

There can be long waits especially if I am being picked up by an ambulance but when it is a car it's much quicker and so much less hanging around and they have even waited while I've had my appointment so we've left very quickly after the appointment.

I use the service to get me to my regular dialysis appointments and it's all been very good. It makes such a difference having access to the service. Staff are friendly and helpful and I've not had any issues.

Its a fantastic service to have available but they are very long days and when you feel unwell that is very difficult to cope with. I was able to go with my mum as her carer and there was no issue with that but as it wouldn't be a long term option so we've had to purchase a suitable car.

Picked up at 9am and the staff are very good and really helpful. Staff support me to get back in to when home and there has been an improvement recently, it's been very good. There's only been one occasion when I had a long wait to go home and it meant it was dark when I got home.

Only used the service recently after an operation and I've been picked up an hour before my appointment on the first occasion and half an hour on the second. There's not been much hanging around after the appointment either which is great. The physio department have been great liaising with transport, it's all been very easy.
Great driver

Today I had a great driver and the overall organisation of the service does seem a bit better but still not great. There are often long waits of about 4 hours to be able to go home which can be hard. The problem is there is little information available while you wait and the phone reception in the hospital is poor so you can't phone up to find out what's happening.

When you are feeling unwell it is a very long day for very short appointment but I've been happy with the staff.

They took me home using a wheelchair, the two ladies lifted me over my threshold at home. Both ladies were spotless and very considerate of me and how they drove the ambulance avoiding the bumps. All medication sorted. I don't see any improvements needed with the service.

I am in my late 80's and I had a medical procedure to have done at the hospital, I am usually quite independent but I wasn't sure that I would be feeling 100 % after the colonoscopy procedure so I thought I would ask for help. They asked me lots of questions and one of them was do I drive and I said 'yes'. They said that I could choose to drive myself, I was taken aback and it didn't seem right that this was the outcome.
