Why do they always ask to do it online?

I went into the surgery to ask about booking an appointment to get my flu jab, I wanted to do it face to face but they told me I needed to go online to AskmyGP, but I said that I couldnt do that, I was frustrated by being asked again but the receptionist was ok with me and she did do it for me and gave me an appointment. I do find that making an appointment to actually see my GP is difficult these days, you can get to see the nurse practitioner usually though. I think the medical treatment here is fine.
