Original feedback for

West Suffolk Hospital

Busy A&E

When I've been sent to A&E by my GP it is obvious there are many people in the same situation who have been told to go there by their doctors. It seems that there is a need for doctors to be able to refer patients to hospital without the need for them to go to A&E which should be for emergencies. While I was there I also saw a registrar trying to track down a patient in the department, again it wasn't the best use of their time to spend so long searching when they could've been treating someone else. The sheer capacity isn't there so where possible patients need to treated via a different pathway when they need tests or investigations that GPs can't do.
