No treatment/support.

Regarding the SALT Team: there is no treatment/support for aphasic older people. We tried to refer a new admission who has dementia and aphasia to the SALT Team. We were told that they aren't accepting referrals for communication difficulties in older people. They are only assessing swallowing & choking risk. This service used to be available in Suffolk. The resident in question cannot write and becomes frustrated when she is not understood. We have cobbled together some communication aids bout could use some support.
