Good

The service has been good and they have adapted my chair to meet my needs and the staff who come out each year to service it are always very helpful.

Waits for equipment

November 16, 2022
A referral for a wheelchair for our son was done in October and we still have no idea when it will be available for us , there's just no contact, don't really know whether the referral has gone through. We've also had a 6 month wait for a standing frame like other families but the bed we needed was arranged fairly quickly.

3 months to get wheelchair adapted

May 31, 2022
My son is disabled and following an operation it took 3 months for adaptions to be done to his wheelchair. As he wasn't meant to put his legs down while he was healing it made life very difficult for him and us as a family.

A really quick service to get my wheelchair repaired and they got the new tyre's needed quickly too. They also set up my new chair in 10 days which was really great.

A very unprofessional service

January 8, 2019
Medequip was supposed to deliver a foot plate for a resident for her wheelchair. The assessment was carried out on the 13.08.18 and today (29.11.18), we still have yet to receive it. I spoke myself several times with Medequip and every time was an excuse. On the 08.11.18, they told me they had received the foot plate and now they are waiting on other parts. (Name redacted) has not been able to use her old or new wheelchair since August 2018. I consider this a very unprofessional service and a disrespect towards (name redacted)'s quality of life.

Delays and problems

November 23, 2017
For months I’ve been trying to get my new wheelchair but there have been so many problems and delays that I have given up with going with the suggested model and will pay the difference in price and keep the model I already have. One of the problems encountered was that the new chair I had prepared for me would not fit in my car as it should’ve done. I’d had enough so gave up and decided to spend the money rather than wait for one to be prepared / altered for me.

Good

Phone system works well for selecting the options. It has taken a little while to get a visit arranged with them and the OT for my new wheelchair but generally very good.

Fair

I asked for a lighter weight Breezy Rubin wheelchair as it's easier for my family and carers but the quality doesn't seem that good. The seat belt is jammed in the socket and screws have come loose. I'm still waiting for arm rest pads which were delivered in April but were the wrong ones. It's taken too long now for replacements. The engineer also turned up in April unannounced.
The automated phone system works well and at least you get a response, unlike from the previous service provider!
