A good surgery

This surgery can offer face to face appointments, I have found them to be reassuring and compassionate. I feel cared for by staff and are kind with people who have mental health needs.

I was initially worried when I was asked by reception to do an econsult to ask for an appointment but I did and it was fairly straight forward and enabled me to get the antibiotics I needed and quickly so I was actually impressed by it. I wasn't aware of the merger with Unity until I called the surgery and feel it would've been better if patients had been informed even if by text or email.

I've had a good experience as a new patient. I was able to register in a day and then get an appointment really quickly, really impressed.
Busy phone lines

The phone lines are busy when you call but when you get through there are appointments available and when you do see a member of staff it is very good. I was on hold and 4th in the queue but decided not to stay on the line and to call back later due to the cost. When I'm asked to go to Long Melford it can be problematic as I have no car and taxi's are expensive especially when there is a surgery here.

I have no issues getting appointments and I didn't have to wait long on the phone when arranging the appointment. It all works fine for me and nothing needs to change. I've not been regularly since covid but I called to arrange a review and got in quickly to see a health care assistant. I use the online system for my prescriptions and that works well. The only thing I'd change is the music that plays when you are on hold on the phone, something classical would be good.

The surgery is very good and I have no complaints at all. It's very good to get appointments when they are needed. I mainly go to Long melford for appointments even though I live in Lavenham, it's not really an issue but it is more convenient to have an appointment here. The staff are always happy to spend time with you to explain things when it's needed.
Phones are busy

My annual reviews haven't been done since the beginning of covid so I called to arrange one. I had a long wait on the phone, 25 minutes, but I did get through and I was able to get and appointment for later in the week so apart from the phones it has all worked well
Can Lavenham be open a bit more?

I would like to see Lavenham surgery open a bit more as I find it difficult to travel to Long Melford as I dont have my own transport.
Our surgery was closed without notice

Almost from the beginning of the pandemic our local surgery, which is an secondary surgery from the Long Melford practise, was closed without notice or explanation. Our Parish Council and other bodies tried to get information to no avail. We were told the Lavenham Surgery was being saved in case Long Melford needed a deep clean. Many senior people live in Lavenham and access to Long Melford is difficult. Even access was difficult if you lived in Long Melford. They did open Lavenham for Flu vaccinations and even Long Melford residence had to come to Lavenham. Again not an easy task. Some appointments are now available for some checks. ie. Blood pressure checks. Mine annual check is long overdue, since April. It is suggested that we buy our own blood pressure machines or use someone else's. But reluctantly will book a check at surgery. Have concerns based on past experience during pandemic about when and how Covid vaccination will be given.
