meals on wheels portion sizes are small

October 12, 2015
The portion sizes of the meals delivered are very small and mean that the main meal has to be supplemented.

Lack of accommodation

August 6, 2015
I am 83 my balance is rapidly deteriorating and I live in a remote rural location. I have attempted to get into very sheltered housing close to my partner and within reach of basic services ie a clinic, shops, Ipswich Hospital and arrange of amenities. I have been turned down by Suffolk CC social services and expected to make my own arrangements.

Suffolk CC place care home level people with, for example, dementia, those who are wheelchair bound and even the blind in very sheltered accommodation thus enabling those like myself, your organisation to use a current rest home avoiding an 'elephant in the room' which distracts from a more basic problem, in short you concentrate on soft targets.

Poor public transport in rural areas

July 15, 2015
Living in a village north of Saxmundam we have an infrequent bus service, making it very difficult to attend appts, shop, go to a doctor, volunteer etc. For example to go to Ipswich Hospital almost requires a taxi at least for one on the journeys, £60 each way! SCC needs to ensure there is public transport, subsiding routes if necessary, as this is essential.

Parking for blue badge holders should be free

July 15, 2015
As parking isn't free in public car parks for blue badge holders, some people are electing to park on double yellow lines instead. By making parking free in car parks. This will help relieve parking on double yellow lines.

SCC could do more to help disabled people

July 15, 2015
SCC could do more to help disabled people travel on buses. Whilst recognising that the bus companies are working to improve their service for disabled people, Suffolk County Council could significantly the funded the use of bus passes by disabled people before 09.30. (A discretionary enhancement to the national scheme)

Blue Badge

July 13, 2015
Need to consider mental well being when assessing whether a blue badge can be issued. When caring for someone with dementia it would be very helpful to be able to park close to the place being visited.
