We didnt want it to close

May 16, 2024
As one of the residents of Hollesley to have our village hall surgery close several months ago now is upsetting and frustrating. People in Hollesley now have no alternative if we need to see a GP to travel to Alderton, Orford or Aldeburgh one of the Peninsula Practice surgeries. I'm not on line and I feel left behind and not important. Transport can be a real issue out here.

Local and convenient

October 26, 2018
I am no longer able to get out very far, due to loss of husband. I do not drive, so I am grateful for the local service. They even take my blood here, which I know is not preferable for them, but I appreciate that I am able to do that due to not being able to get anywhere else.

Very Convenient

October 26, 2018
Really good access to this service in order to get my prescription. It is very convenient for me. Prescriptions come a week after you submit the repeat form, but we are used to that and know that is the system as the surgery here is only open Mondays.
If I need to see a GP on a different day of the week, the option of going to Alderton suits me too.

Phone system

October 9, 2018
I called at 8 am, as I am instructed. On hold for 20 minutes then just cut me off. So I got in my car and drove to the surgery. Reception were chatting whilst phone is ringing, took a while for them to recognise I was even there. Not great. However, I then got an appointment for that day. Shouldn't take me driving there to ensure that happens.

More Questions from Reception

October 9, 2018
Initially when getting through on the telephone, I am now being asked extra questions, which I do not like. However, now the HWS CDO has explained more about Care Navigation, I understand why it is being done. There is a fine line though between being medical and telling you who you need to see. If I only have symptoms, I am unsure how a non medical assessment can mean I will see the right person. If I know what is wrong with me, that is easier to be directed to Nurse/GP. I will however, show more patience and understanding now I know why I am asked.

Telephone system is terrible

The phone system is terrible. Getting the continual message that 'you are in a queue' but not saying where you are in the queue is frustrating as you do not know how long it will be before they answer.

Takes a while to get an appointment

October 9, 2018
Have been able to get in here today as Alderton was all booked up. As I have transport it was not a problem. It can be a 3 week wait to see someone for a follow up appointment.

Not too bad getting appointment

October 9, 2018
They really do need to think about putting on another afternoon at this surgery. Years ago it stopped, but there is so many more people living in the area since then. It wasn't too bad trying to get an appointment by ringing Alderton. Was on hold for quite a while.
