I feel involved and like my midwife

West Suffolk
April 2, 2024
My midwife is very good, she is kind, caring and thorough in what she does, she is very responsive, on one occasion she sent me to the main hospital for a further scan as a precaution. I feel confident that I am in good hands. I also feel able to ask any questions if I need to. I like the fact that I see the same midwife. I feel involved and I do feel that I am listened to by her.

Newmarket hospital is a good location

West Suffolk

Staff are kind and caring to me, its a lot better here than at Bury hospital, they are always on time with my appointments, ultra sound is good, easy no hassle and less stress at this hospital, dont have to worry about parking. The consistency is good having the same midwife and I wanted that, I wanted to change my care plan recently from labour suite to midwife led care and they listened and were happy to action that for me, I feel listened to and respected.

I have found the staff here to be very kind, I have been sent to Addenbrokes hospital from Newmarket for my scans, all of those seem to go well, the midwife from Newmarket hospital has visited me at home which is great, the consistency of the same midwife is good.

Great care from the midwives

East Suffolk
March 28, 2024
I have received excellent care from the actual midwives I have seen throughout my pregnancy. My biggest concern was prior to 20 weeks of pregnancy the only access I had to help and advice was via the AskmyGP service at my GP surgery. This is basically a useless service any time after 8.30am. If I had a problem any other time I would have been unable to access any help other than attend A&E. This does need a review of the system because early pregnancy I felt very alone.

Having twins

West Suffolk
March 25, 2024
I still come and have my midwife checks and they are very good and I do not have any issues or concerns. But I have referred myself to the Rosie maternity hospital in Cambridgeshire because as soon as I was told that I was having twins the West Suffolk hospital staff said that because I had had a previous C- section that it was a foregone conclusion that I would be having one again, and I did not want that, I wanted to at least plan for a natural birth my desire is for a natural birth, I felt that even the obstetrician was twitchy about the idea of a natural birth, I felt that my opinion was not listened to or valued so as a result I approached the Rosie Hospital who by comparrison felt comfortable with my choice, I understand they have also delivered lots of twins there, I felt that my choices were respected. I do wonder if at West Suffolk Hospital if they have enough experience with twins in my situation but I am glad that I transferred.

I felt in good hands

West Suffolk
March 25, 2024
I have felt in good and safe hands with the midwives and looked after.
When my baby was born it was in the evening and my husband was allowed to stay for about an hour afterwards but then the staff on the ward were adamant that he had to leave, I really wanted him to stay and so did he but he wasnt allowed, this caused me not to sleep and I was very angry and upset, I know that I would have felt so much better if he had been allowed to stay.

Location of clinic is good

West Suffolk
March 25, 2024
The midwives are very good here, I feel totally cared for. I like the location of this clinic is quiet and private. I have requested a birthing pool for my baby's birth and everything is going well so hopefully this will be allowed to happen. I have been to the hospital for a few scans no issues.

Caring staff

West Suffolk
March 25, 2024
I have found the staff here to be lovely and caring. I am always seen on time which is important when you work like me. My only comment is when you are at the hospital waiting under the triage you can wait a long time, I do feel that a cup of tea and something to eat should be offered when you have to wait for several hours.

They are very thorough with mental health support, I find this reassuring and supportive. I have access to a online portal which has my notes and this is easy to access. The staff here have a great attitude and are kind and caring.

They have been fab here

West Suffolk
March 25, 2024
They have been fab here to me. Around mental health they listen and they take action when needed, they have been totally brilliant. They work hollistically and individualised. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They have given me a direct number to get hold of them if I need to. I think the relationship with the midwife and linking to the hospital is very important.
