Uncertainty with the service

June 5, 2018
This service has been brilliant up until these last couple of weeks, where access is sporadic. You never know if it is running or not. I was informed that the contract has changed hands. Clearly the new company were not ready to take it on

Will be better with consistency

June 5, 2018
A service that is not yet consistent. It is confusing as one piece of information says it is running only on Wednesday. Another poster say 08:30-12:30 Mon-Fri yet you turn up and its not starting until 10:30 and overrun at that time. They only have one phlebotomist on who is doing an amazing job, very quick at the job in hand. Obviously due to back log of closure last week is the reason for so many here today, so they need 2 minimum. Not staff fault. Volunteers running front desk are amazing, friendly and communicate timescales with us.

Was seen quick and swiftly

June 5, 2018
Was in Cutlers surgery today and they said the blood service will be on until 2:30pm today so I went over to Patrick Stead hospital, and it was very quiet so I got seen quickly, which is great. Probably because people think it finished at 12:30PM

Communication and info has dropped a bit

June 5, 2018
I rang the surgery today, to check the time for the blood testing today. It has been so much 'all over the place', you never know when it is or isn't running. I am sure it will settle down.

Lack of communication on services

Up until today, the phlebotomy service has been excellent, up until today when we turned up for 9am to be told it was not starting until 10:30am.

Attend quite regularly (Quarterly) usually arrive at 8:30am and get seen quite quickly. Usually 3rd/4th in the queue. Always lovely nurse and manages to do the procedure with no issues.

Helpful, compassionate

Over this weekend, a district nurse attended Britten Court (Sole Bay Unit) as we had two residents on syringe drivers. She was respectful whilst tending to these and she also assisted us with others who were needing pressure relieving equipment and got these in place quickly for us. She spent a long time in the building helping us.

Disappointing to say the least.

I had been ill for 13 years by the time I gained access to this service. I was only given advice on pacing, having already had CBT years ago. There is no access to a consultant or even a prescribing GP. This is a short term, therapy led service. My condition continues to deteriorate and I feel abandoned, scared and hopeless. The service does not cater for the severely ill nor the long term patient. The existence of the service leads GP's and specialists in other disciplines to believe that our needs are being catered for. They are not.

Thank you for your feedback, which we take very seriously.

ECCH is commissioned by West Suffolk CCG to provide a diagnosis and short term therapy service. We are a specialist NHS service that seeks to meet the needs of people who have a diagnosis of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) in Norfolk and Suffolk. At the current time ECCH is not commissioned to provide a consultant-led service and whilst we have had a number of discussions with our commissioners, this has not progressed further at the present time.

We offer an outpatient service via face to face appointments, email, telephone and, in a small number of cases, home visits. The team is made up of GP’s with specialist interest and knowledge of ME/CFS (GPwSI) and specialist therapists including Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. In treating patients, we focus on working with you to find strategies that will help you achieve improvement in your condition and establish and maintain a quality of life.

Regarding medication, our therapists can make recommendations to a patient’s GP but the GP is responsible for prescribing medication.

If you feel you need further input or alternative solutions to assist you, please contact the service again and we will try to help.

Very poor

CFS/ME service-diagnosis and then a meeting with an OT for few weeks of advice on pacing and CBT. No support groups, no consultant advice or guidance, no individual input from anyone who has reall knowledge of this condition. Result: Feeling of being let down, isolation, despair, fear, helplessness. No ongoing support-dropping off the edge....
