I was given incorrect medication

September 19, 2024
in Autumn 2023 I saw the nurse practitioner at the surgery. I went to collect my usual medication from the pharmacy and I was given 3 different medications, 2 boxes that I recognised and 1 box that I did not recognise. The pharmacist asked me if this third box had definitely been prescribed to me?, I looked at them and it was identified that these were infact medication which were not for me at all! Thank goodness the pharmacist flagged it up to me as a query otherwise I wouldn't have known. I phoned the surgery as soon as I got home and explained the situation and I was told by the lady who answered the phone to bring the third box in, but I kept it, the explanation given to me was that the nurse practitioner must have left open the screen from the previous patient and hence the mix up, I was very annoyed.

A perfect visit

A Big thank you to the Dr. for his professional advice. I am 83 and still feel guilty and nervous visiting the Doctors Surgery. With his professional approach and his kindness I relaxed immediately.

Positive telephone consultation with GP

July 17, 2024
Excellent experience of Howard House using Ask my GP.

Made a self referral using ask my gp. Received call back next day from GP. I was not expecting a GP to do the call back themselves, I thought I might get a nurse or receptionist so I was pleased to be able to speak to a clinician so quickly and surprised at how fast the turnaround was.

They listened to me and communicated clearly. They were friendly and did not make me feel rushed even though we only had ten minutes.

They booked me in for a follow up check and I received a call to arrange this within 10 minutes.

I am very impressed with the speed, efficiency of this service.

I have received good service from the nurse practitioner better than the GP, I find they do more action.

Excellent GP, very good mental health support. And they were particularly good and caring and attentive when my husband was being cared for.

'Ask my GP' works well for me

April 23, 2024
Ask My GP online service works well for me, I have always had a quick reply from the practice when I have used it. They phone me and it is decided if they see me or what happens next. I use the online facility to reorder my repeat medications, I don't have any issues.

Good for my family so far

July 18, 2023
We all come to this surgery and as we are reasonably healthy, we do not need to come often. We have been able to access information we need, and tend to go to the pharmacy first for most simple things. I used AskMyGP and found it easy to use, but it is not for everyone. It suits me due to my work and/or school run. They are quick to let you know if you need to take action/come in to see someone, although the latter generally is less often.

waiting for referrals

July 18, 2023
I have the need for a referral, but when you do not see a GP you do not get them as quickly. This concerns me, as if there was something a bit more sinister going on, a delay can be more of an issue. There feels like more hoops to jump through to get the treatment you need.

Quiet yet busy

July 18, 2023
You are told there is limited appointments, yet when you come in the surgery is quiet, yet they say how busy they are.
It gives me the impression that there are many phone call appointments happening, or barely any staff in to see people face to face. They are all lovely people when you do see them.

Use the phone not online

July 18, 2023
I always use the phone even though they always ask if you can use online. I cannot use online as eye sight not the best, but I am not wanting to purchase the equipment just to use to make a GP appointment, as would not use it for anything else at my age. They are helpful once we get past that initial hurdle, but I do get sick of being asked it each time. I would not be ringing in if I could use it.
