Tavern Street Dental Practice

My dentist has been very good at making sure I had a check and treatment before my cancer treatment started. I had a tooth removed but now I need further treatment. I've been treated as an NHS patient and I've been very pleased with the treatment and care provided by the team.

My son has a winter vomiting bug unable to attend today’s appointment cancelled just about accepted that they’ve taken all the money that he paid upfront for not attending but to then be told that he can’t have any other appointments because he’s classed as a failure and they are running a business I beg your pardon. He used all his own money that an extremely professional dentist to then not be allowed in again because he wouldn’t attend an appointment as he had vomiting bug disgusting

Every time I turn up for a check up I get the most basic service for the same price as other practices. Last year I had a check up and requested some fluoride paste due to one of my teeth being very sensitive. I was told that they are unable to approve prescription due to the person who was approving not being here (or something similar that pretty much said no). I was advised to go and buy it over the counter. I am aware that I can buy it over the counter, the point of a check up is that I can ask for things like prescription paste which might be slightly cheaper. I didn't get it.
This year I went for a check up and requested an X ray on one of the teeth as it is sensitive. I was told oh no we can't do that because we're out of x-ray cassette. I received a visual dental check-up (5min job) and was charged same amount as a checkup costs. They said they were aware I'm due for an x-ray but I didn't receive one. Not I was kindly invited to come and get it another time. I was suggested to come back in 6 months. For what? I can visually check my teeth in the mirror.

They wont see you as an NHS patient once you have been treated as a private patient. My daughter has moved back to Suffolk and cannot get an NHS dentist even though she is pregnant and entitled to free NHS dental right now.

On every occasion that I have visited the practice, I have been treated well and the staff have explained everything to me. I have never felt rushed on that anything is too much trouble.

I received a leaflet from this practice which gives the strong impression that they are taking on new NHS patients. I phoned the practice, told them I wanted to register and was told by the receptionist to email them with my name and DOB. I was keen to register with a local dentist, as currently, I face a 120 mile round trip to see my NHS dentist and really need a local one. Shortly after, phoning this practice, I received and automated email, which was basically sales blurb for private patients. Deep in the sales blurb, it's mentioned that you might be able to join thier NHS waiting list, IF, you turn up in person and fill in some forms. This excersise MIGHT, get you a preliminary NHS examination at some point in the future. Then I read the reviews. Needless to say, I'll not be using this practice.

Had to cancel appt because I had Covid. Told off their books despite ringing in excruciating pain. Receptionist unhelpful, lacking in empathy and extremely rude.

I recently registered here and thought the whole process was a bit odd and unprofessional but the dentist was good. I registered my daughter too but she was too ill to attend (I called the morning of the appointment (which was at 4.10PM) and was told they would rebook and she was off their records straight away. I tried to complain and they accused me of being abusive which was incorrect. The dental staff at this practice are ok but whoever in charge is incompetent and unprofessional.

I cancelled appointment and they took me off NHS
