Prefer phone consultations

May 16, 2023
Due to the time the journey takes and that the appointments are so short with the consultants I prefer them now doing the appointments by phone, its much easier and just as good as a face to face for my condition.

Good care

The care provided during my stay at the hospital was good but it was evident that they were understaffed. The food wasn't very appetising and the doctors always seemed to visit when food had been given out.

Very limited contact

April 12, 2022
My baby had a scan very quickly after he was born for a mega ureter and he had surgery quickly after. He was discharged but we have had no contact from the team since then. He was meant to have a clinic follow up at 7 weeks post op but that never happened and now he is not due to be seen until May which will be 5 months after the operation.

Long wait for surgery

December 14, 2021
The phone consultations I've had have worked well as normally the appointments are so quick you only spend a few minutes in the actual room so having a phone call is much more sensible. Unfortunately I have received a letter from the hospital saying the surgeon has now left and I've been added to another list but have been given no time frame for the surgery to take place. Previously I was told the wait would be over two years.

My daughter was told she needed treatment for a form of cancer but she's still waiting 2 years later.

Lack of wheelchairs delayed discharge

Husband had knee surgery and they had him up and about again in no time at all. Only complaint was that when we were discharged there were no wheelchairs. They found one eventually but it delayed our departure somewhat.

Good care but community service issues

April 16, 2019
My father received good care from the hospital team following a stroke and he then spent 21 days in rehab before being assessed as being ready for home. Unfortunately because we live in Suffolk right on the Norfolk border the community services arranged for his discharge could not get involved. It was then really difficult to get the care and support needed.

Discharge was chaos

unknown
October 3, 2018
I had an operation at the hospital, the pre op stage and operation went well but the aftercare was virtually on existant. Staff didn't listen to each other or patients, I was moved in the middle of the night and the bed was left unmade. I felt that discharge was chaos, they discussed very little with our family.

Discharged with no medication or information

Accident and emergency services
August 16, 2018
Resident of Residential Care Home attended A&E following a fall. Spent around 48hrs in hospital. Discharged to the home with no medication or discharge summary. Meds were sent in at request of the paramedics but were apparently destroyed. GP service then said they would not provide a prescription without a discharge summary.
