A Kafkaesque labyrinth that leads nowhere

June 27, 2019
Mental health support services may well exist - on paper. However the referral system seemed designed to prevent those in need from accessing them. In the case of my son (12, autism, anxiety disorder), he has been subject to an unending game of departmental pass-the-parcel with no unit or service willing to offer any real help. You have to chase them every step of the way, while they look for excuses to discharge the patient or refer him / her elsewhere. A frustrating and futile experience.

My care co-ordinator is so supportive

June 25, 2019
I am included in decisions about my care and it feels like a real partnership. They made adjustments to my care when I told them I can’t attend appointments in the mornings because I work. Thank you

No support given.

Attended various assessments. My daughter received no support. Left unable to cope. I had to see a private doctor.

What just happened?!

June 24, 2019
We see the DR breifly every 6-9months.
Has my son on a controlled drug which requires regular monitoring (BP, Weight, etc) and I'm doing this myself. No help from other services or even mention of what support there is available

Numerous bad experiences.

June 24, 2019
Two of my children have and still are being failed. We have tried various ways to get support for 7 year old and hitting a brick wall every time. We were even told by the wellbeing hub that they may help if he gets worse when we were already in crisis. We have been passed from pillar to post for years with my daughter and each professional thought it a good idea to share their opinions on what was wrong with my daughter with her (14 year old) before speaking to me. Finally just before her 17th birthday we finally got to see the asd assessment team and she got the right diagnosis but was then told that they don't have any staff to offer any support. She's now nearly 18, still hasn't had a follow up appointment and is getting more anxious by the day.

Waited 21 mths for CAMHS ADHDTH assessment

June 24, 2019
This is the only service provider for this assessment and no other provision was available locally or out of county while this was not available. My child has been let down due to lack of early intervention. Completely failed in school due to their neglect of not dealing with an undiagnosd SEN although the signs were there. Resulted in school refusal and anxiety.

Need MH support for adults with aspergers

June 24, 2019
I was diagnosed with aspergers recently as an adult. I also have long-term mental health difficulties. Since my diagnosis I have been told to go to MH support groups, however the ones I have been provided with are solely for people with autism and people with learning difficulties. Many of the attendees are non-verbal and struggle with communication. As someone who has been a teacher for many years, this isn't the right envorinment to meet my needs. Instead, I am having to pay £40 for regular private therapy as there simply isn't any other support. There needs to be better mental health support for adults with aspergers. At present there is a serious lack of provision.

Cross Border

June 24, 2019
Because we live in Suffolk but have gp in norfolk we have had to wait for Norfolk
Learning Dis team to take us on as we didn’t want to move doctors due to the relationship our family have with them. Same partnership but waiting list but longer disgusting when you really need the help.

9 years since GP referral, no treatment.

June 23, 2019
History of worsening and additional diagnoses, previous psychologists say services unable to provide care, do not provide sufficient length or depth to be of effect yet current charlatans in charge have discharged me into social service care, who have already said if I use thier funds as NSFT suggest I will be guilty of fraud and liable for arrest. 9 years in Aug 2019 of no treatment and discharge without, which is not discharge so much as ostracization. Once referred to NSFT patients find themselves unable to access NHS MH care anywhere else, regardless of whether treated or not.
