See the right person
February 12, 2024
Ask My GP works well and gets good responses and appointments when needed, and prevents unnecessary visits. The children are seen quickly and for non urgent appointments it would be great to be able to book out side of normal working hours. I feel that I get to see the right person and the paramedic has been great, very supportive.

So far I'm happy with the limited contact I've had with staff, I'm unsure how long it takes to register to use Ask My GP but everything else has been good.
Pretty easy

I like that its pretty easy to use Ask My GP and I really like it as its so quick to use with no waiting on the phone to get through to the surgery. It also stops unnecessary appointments and I only have to come in to the surgery when really needed. The nurses are super nice however the GPs I'm a little less positive about as at times I've found them patronising and I've had to press for what I've needed.
No issues at all

Ask My GP works really well and gets quick responses followed by a face to face when needed. Staff are helpful and understanding and when I moved to the surgery I was given a complete review and they actually picked up an issue that had been dismissed by my previous surgery. I've been well supported by staff too.
Staff are good

I arrange appointments by popping in to the surgery as I don't need to see a gp and I haven't needed to use ask my gp yet. Staff are good but I would prefer it if they notified patients when your gp changes. It would be great if the length of the phone message could be reduced.
Struggle
February 12, 2024
I really struggle with Ask My GP and don't find it accessible. I spent 2 hours yesterday trying to use it but it kept saying attach document. I called but staff weren't overly helpful when I said I was having problems. In the end I was called by a member of staff as I managed to submit a partially completed form and I was given an appointment with a nurse. Initially they just wanted to signpost me to a physio for an injury I got when I was on holiday but that would've taken around two weeks to be seen.

Ask My GP is a good system to use and I get quick responses and appointments using it and I find that it is a better way to get an appointment than the other options.
Nurses are good

The nurses are good and I have regular appointments with them for my ulcer and getting a call back works well but getting to see a GP isn't that easy however the nurses and other staff have addressed all the issues I've had, so I probably didn't need to see a GP. I don't use Ask My GP but reception are great when I call. The doppler clinic here keeps being cancelled and I'm concerned it's not being done.
See different GPs

The system allows for quick on the day responses but for more complicated issues its not quite so easy to get what is needed sometimes. When you see a different doctor each time for for longer term conditions it can mean you have to go through your story each time.
Direct booking would be better

I would prefer to be able to book an actual appointment with a doctor when speaking to reception staff but this isn't possible. I spoke to a doctor yesterday and I'm seeing a nurse today. Although I've spoken to doctors I haven't actually see a GP for some time as appointments tend to be with nurses. Calling the surgery is now quicker than it used to be so that has improved and blood tests and my annual review have taken place at the surgery in good time too. Overall it works well, I would just prefer to be able to book an appointment directly with staff.
