Being deaf I have a problem communicating BUT at the Cardio. Dept The receptionists on Reception B were extremely understanding and helpful, I was referred for ECG They were equally good, the Nurse who did BP was exceptional over and above - she helped me and made sure I understood where I was to go etc..
Pharmacy
PHARMACY

Pharmacy Dept. Of course I expect to wait for Meds BUT there was only 1 person ahead of me the room was empty - I was told 10 - 20 mins wait. I ended up waiting from 10.09 a.m to 10.35 a.m. Bad, as there was none ahead of me!! and the worse thing it cost me extra money in car par fees. THE CONSULTANT SHOULD NOT BE REFERRING PEOPLE TO HOSPITAL PHARMACY - GIVE US A PAPER PRESCRIPTION SO WE CAN GO TO OUR OWN PHARMACY. ( saves the hospital time and money) AND US HAVING TO PAY MORE PARKING FEES.

I experienced nothing but excellent and remarkable care whilst on intensive care at the hospital. I have a very serious condition called Necrotising fasciitis and the staff gave amazing care and support to me.
Communication concern

In November 2019 I had some anti inflammatory injections at West Suffolk Hospital as I was informed that there was not a spinal clinic at Ipswich for injections. I spoke with the Orthopaedics's secretary on the phone about sending my information to Ipswich from West Suffolk, I just need some certainly that Ipswich have received my details and I have heard nothing I just want to know that I am in the system.
Visited A&E with cardiac issues
Accident and emergency services

Arrived in A&E with cardiac issues on a Friday night. Triaged within 10 minutes to ascertain level of need. Everyone was polite, friendly and efficient despite people moaning in the waiting room and being totally disrespectful. If they’re well enough to stomp around the department complaining, I suspect they’re probably not in dire need of attention. Investigations were carried out quickly and respectfully. Some people in the waiting room were complaining about the tidiness of the department, but I found it to be spotless apart from stuff left on the seats by people waiting (not the hospital’s fault). We should be so proud of WSH and the staff who work there and face such abuse.
Was very good until AFTER I had my baby
Labour suite
February 21, 2020
I was left in the same room that I gave birth in for over 8 hours after I had given birth - did not move me onto the post labour ward . Was not offered any food . A cup of tea was brought that had bits floating In it . Wasn’t offered help to shower . Sat in blood soaked bedding for hours . No nurses free to check my baby over so was going to have to stay over night even though I gave birth early afternoon . Alarms in the room kept going off . Nurses didn’t know where anything was . Wanted to discharge myself and the nurses on the changeover were rude and abrupt considering I had just given birth and been left not knowing what was going on
Failed to diagnose or care
Gynaecology

This is day 2 of mu daughter waiting for an emergency operation to remove a large mass from her ovary. Losing weight, unable to eat or drink properly, in great pain and they have had her 2 days on nil by mouth. Today almost 17 hrs and they cancelled yet again. They failed to offer her any food after such a long time without. Maybe spend time diagnosing problems years ago and you'll spend less on consultants. MRI scans, ultrasounds, a and e visits and a very much more risky operation for my daughter! I spoke to the duty manager tonight and there seemed to be a party atmosphere in the background, twice she had to ask people to be quiet (how professional). Why are they not on the wards?
Giving birth
Maternity

I had a pretty traumatic labour but thanks to the amazing care I received from my midwife (name removed) & the other staff, I remained calm & felt safe. Due to complications she remained by my side for the whole of her shift. She listened to my concerns, included my husband, explained everything at all times & made me feel special. I’d like to thank Dr (name removed) for delivering my daughter safely & for stitching me up so well. Thank you to all the other theatre staff including the lady who was there just to hold my hand. From the moment my waters broke to when I was discharged, I can’t fault the care that I received.
