Confidentiality concern

Ophthalmology
January 21, 2020
In the area where the consultants sit it is very open and everyone can hear what is being said about other patients, as they talk about more than one patient at one time. I was concerned last time we came when what I assumed to be a senior consultant was very rude to another another consultant, he said "you have been here two years you should know better" this was said in front of myself and my son we both felt very uncomfortable about this. I really think there is a confidentiality issue in the treatment area too as it is so open everyone can hear everything.

They help to keep me calm with injections

Certain members of staff would do their very best to do everything they can for you. I have to have injections in my eye and they are able to keep me calm when the treatment is being done.

Lost of waiting in between treatments

Ophthalmology

Sometimes you can get in quickly and the staff are good. I think generally too many patients and not enough staff. There can be a lot of waiting in between treatments.

Fantastic eye care

Ophthalmology

All staff been great here, good treatment, good communication both my phone call and letter. There are two parts to the eye clinic, the first area is pretty quick but it is in the second area that you do have to wait longer.

endoscopy dept faultless BUT ward care varies

January 20, 2020
my mum needed a flexisig for a recurring sigmoid volvulus. I am her daughter and carer so wash, change and do medication even in hospital. Waited 2 hours for painkiller on F5 ward and I also had to keep chasing staff to facilitate her discharge as they had booked us a taxi for 7pm and nowhere near ready to hoist into wheelchair then. The endoscopy dept is faultless but F5 , F6 wards inconsistent with care. It's potluck....

Exceptional loving care

I cannot remember which ward, but my late mother in law received exceptional loving care during her last illness. The staff bought her toiletries as a Christmas gift, she was in a coma from which she never recovered. The staff treated her as a valuable human being at all times.
