Good with children

Always good with the children especially. I called at 8am and have been given an appointment this morning which was great. Its very reassuring with the children that they are seen the same day. I've also used econsult and had the same day or next day appointments for non urgent issues.

Quick blood test

I've had an urgent blood test today following a call from the hospital. I have had to come here from Capel which isn't so convenient but as its urgent I'm just glad to get it.

Good staff

There are some really good staff but the quality of the service as a whole is lacking. during covid I was on the shielding list but then asked to come in for appointments against the advice. Things aren't always done when they say they will be, like a scan that should've been ordered by a GP. I raised the issue at my next appointment with a nurse and I got the scan quickly. It's a real shame that the diabetic nurse has left, she was great. Medication deliveries have also stopped unless you pay for the service now.

Slow updates

I had a blood test in January and only had a call in April to let me know that there were issues with the results that needed to be addressed which is slightly concerning.

Struggle to get appointments at Capel

Really struggled especially to get appointments at the Capel Surgery and I've been made to feel that I'm wasting their time. The problem is that problems are not always urgent as they may be on going issues but its difficult to be asked each time if it's urgent as no it's not but it does need dealing with. I haven't had a review recently and have requested this blood test.

Busy phones

Phones are busy when contacting the surgery. I've bought a very unwell child in to the surgery but the GP wouldn't see them and said to call the surgery the next morning. Reception did all they could to get us seen but in the end we went to A&E and was diagnosed with scarlet fever. I've now lost confidence when staff are so dismissive.

Confusion

Mainly only coming to the surgery for blood tests but follow up is limited around results and information. I was told I needed to be on a certain medication but then it wasn't added to my prescription so I'm unclear if I should be on them or not now.

Phones are busy

Getting through on the phone is difficult and you're asked if the issue you're calling about is urgent so it is difficult to get non urgent issues addressed. I hadn't had a medication review/ blood test for two years so I've requested this appointment as I was worried about medication side effects. Getting my medication from the pharmacy has taken some time to and I'm having to wait another week for them to be ready. I don't feel it's the staffs fault there's just not enough capacity.

Good

Family help me to get to and arrange appointments. Todays was pre arranged so I didn't have to wait to long for it. The nurse is very good and thorough and the surgery works well and I don't feel anything really needs to change.

Caring doctor and staff

Rang to speak to GP ,was given an appointment that morning,the consultation resulted in need for ECG,(done there and then) and then saw the doctor again who was very caring .
