New diabetic treatment is excellent
Diabetic Medicine
September 25, 2024
I have been given a Libra Monitor which I think is brand new treatment for type 2 diabetes, it is fitted in the arm and I can monitor all that is needed yourself, it has changed my life. If I need any support I am well supported by the diabetic nurse at the hospital who is brilliant too.
Unhappy how I am treated in A & E
Accident and emergency services
September 19, 2024
About a month ago I went to A & E as I felt in mental distress. I do feel that staff who recognise me in A & E do not treat me in an understanding way. I also find some staff to be somewhat rude in their attitude towards me. I was aware that it was said that I go to A & E just for somewhere to go, which is not true and when I heard this had been said I felt degraded. Some of the reception staff are good but some I find are very judgemental. It is hard to wait in the main waiting area when I feel in distress if there could be a quiet side room this would be so much better.
I am left wondering
Day surgery
September 19, 2024
I had a lump removed from my breast in May 2024 and all seemed to go well and I came home but sadly I have never been offered a follow up appointment from the hospital or from my GP surgery, the GP said the last time I phoned that they had not heard anything about it. It would be helpful if I was given some kind of feedback to help me with my concerns as to what it was.
Exceptional Service
Oncology

My daughter is being cared for by oncology at Ipswich hospital and I can only describe the service she is receiving as exceptional, they are very kind and caring and do an amazing job.
MS treatment wanted in Ipswich
August 27, 2024
I am an MS patient and I have been travelling to Addenbrokes for about 4 years for MS treatment and I live in Ipswich. This is a long way to travel for treatment. I recently had some treatment in Ipswich, can MS treatment please be moved to Ipswich for patients who live in Ipswich?
Specialist nurses brilliant
Cancer services
August 6, 2024
Generally appointments are when they should be. The specialist nurse is brilliant, she explains everything so well. However, I find my consultant hard to hear and they don't check that I understand what is being said. I'm meant to have regular scans every 3-4 months but it's been 6 months.
Midwives great
Maternity
August 6, 2024
I received great care and got lots of information from them. It was very different to when I had my first baby and I felt they were very good checking on my mental health throughout the pregnancy which was great and then again after I had my baby.
Visiting my father
Capel and Bratham
August 1, 2024
Dad was on Brantham/Capel wards for a couple of nights. I took my mum into visit and EVERY member of staff we encountered, even those we just walked past in the corridors, smiled and made eye contact. The staff on his ward were brilliant, all so helpful and smiley as were the physiologists and cardiologist I talked with. They explained things patiently and clearly. Thanks to everyone.
Lack of information
July 22, 2024
Discharged after being told I had an anomaly on my chest but was given no detail by the consultant and there was no mention of it on the discharge notes. When I got home I had to get my doctor to chase it up with the hospital and it turned out that it could be cancer but nothing was mentioned to me or my surgery about this.
Good discussion
Maternity
July 22, 2024
Living in the north of Suffolk I was receiving my maternity care from Ipswich hospital as I had done with previous pregnancies. This time it was much better as I had one midwife throughout the labour and they covered everything about the induction really well and I felt well supported. After the birth though midwives from James Paget hospital came in and said that they would now be providing care, there was no discussion it was just what was happening. This meant that a community care after our discharge was through the James Paget community team who I'd never met and I never saw my community midwife from the other team again. It was a real shame and so different to my previous births and unnecessary. They said it was due to our address coming under Waveney. It was just added stress and concern.
