Long wait
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
December 6, 2024
I've been told that I will have a two year wait to have a migrated wisdom tooth removed. I get reoccurring infections but I am lucky because I have an amazing dentist who keeps on top of things when it gets worse.
Long wait

I've only just been referred to orthopaedics for a spinal issue and have been told it will be about a 50 week wait and I'm now waiting to see the consultant.
Terrible experience
Maternity
December 2, 2024
Almost 3 years ago (2022) I was giving birth to twins, the first baby came head first but the second baby was breach, they gave me an epidural but it didn't work correctly and they cut me badly and I was in so much pain it was unbelievable, I lost a lot of blood but didn't require a blood transfusion. I almost died, it was terrible experience. I had to lay down the whole time as they were cutting me and I saw several doctors in the room with me too several of them on their mobile phones, I didn't know what they were doing but seeing them doing this felt so disrespectful to me.

It was good as it was swift and reassuring. Dr was calm and thorough and even checked their actions with a senior colleague in front of me.
Communication is difficult
November 29, 2024
Communication between departments is difficult and we've had to ask for letters to be re sent. It can be dangerous when they don't know what else is happening with different conditions.
No issues

Get good information when seeing the consultants. The new parking system has resulted in parking fines as I forgot to pay on leaving. To get around the hospital is difficult as it is so spread out and there is lots of walking between departments. The staff are helpful and I've been happy with the care received.
Lovely staff

A&E is not necessarily the right place to be rather than in the department or on the ward. The theatre staff were brilliant when I was having an operation and generally the staff are lovely and I really can't fault them. However, on the ward I found it difficult to get the attention of the nurses when my nose started bleeding again or I needed the toilet.
Great cancer care

The care and treatment I've received from the department for my breast cancer has been great. I now have regular check ups and feel that staff are always so lovely when I see them.
Good care

I spent a week on a ward and was disappointed with the bathroom facilities. The toilet didn't flush properly and the water was so hot it couldn't be used to wash or shave with. There is also no plug available so you can fill the sink and mix the water. No surprise I left hospital with a bug as no one can wash their hands properly. Other than that the care and staff were great but the facilities need to be looked at. Its all very well having a sign saying water is hot but if it's so hot it can't be used there's no point having it there.
Very good service in the eye clinic

I have macular degeneration and corneal dystrophy, they did a transplant in both eyes and it was a success at Addenbrokes hospital, my ongoing care is done at Ipswich eye clinic, they are very good and I feel cared for, a very good service provided.
