I was given an appointment with in a few days after my GP referred me. After initially being assessed I was given a range of tests and an MRI all with in 10 days which I was really impressed with. I was given the information I needed and couldn't fault the staff.

I needed a blood transfusion in September and they were great both with the speed of the appointment and how staff were with me. I've just had an appointments with my kidney specialist after moving to the hospital during covid and was very happy with it.

Amazing

Washbrook ward

The staff at Washbrook ward are angels in disguise. My stepdad was extremely ill when he was admitted and sadly we lost him a few days after he was admitted. However the staff couldn't do enough for him and for us as his two visitors in extreme conditions including working with covid and being sworn at and even bitten by patients.
Keep up the excellent work. You deserve a massive pay rise for what you have to cope with.

Audiology refused me a hearing test

Ear Nose and Throat
March 16, 2022
I wear hearing aids, dispensed by Ipswich Hospital some years ago. In recent months I have noticed a considerable deterioration in my hearing. I rang audiology for an appt and when I arrived the technician said I could only have a hearing aid service as my hearing test was less than three years ago and therefore I was not eligible for another until the three years were up. There was no acknowledgement of my situation. She said I could go to my GP and get another referral to ENT but it would take longer to get the appt than it would to wait until my three years were up. I know this is not accurate, as I cannot be referred to a service which I am currently a patient with. She said she would discharge me so that I could have another referral - I refused. My other option was to go private. She said as my hearing aids were as high as they would go that was all she could do. I have been an outpatient at audiology for years and never had such an unhelpful appointment.

Left in limbo

unknown
March 2, 2022
After being referred by my surgery for a problem with my knee. I had an appointment this week and they examined my knee but I feel I'm in limbo now as they told me to go back and book an appointment with my GP on Monday so I don't really know what's happening now.

First class

Cancer services

I was referred to the hospital by my surgery and was seen with in 2 weeks and then had biopsies and other tests done in 10 days. My surgery was arranged and done all with in the month basically, it was great. The only slight issue was that when I arrived for the operation, expecting to be first on the list, staff weren't even sure if I was on the list and I found this difficult to cope with. They did handle it well and I was operated on but with no family there to support me it was very upsetting.

I caught covid and ended up being admitted to hospital for an 8 day stay. The doctors and nurses were great and they kept me informed throughout. Really amazing care considering the situation and how stretched staff were.
