Brantham Ward - excellent care
Brantham ward
December 9, 2022
My partner was advised to go to Brantham Ward and from the moment we arrived staff were attentive and very accommodating. My partner suffers from a severe and enduring mental health condition and all of the staff that dealt with my partner were respectful and accommodating of this. My partner was advised to stay in overnight, the discussion around which sent him spiralling, all staff were understanding of this and agreed that they would complete tests and then he would be able to go home. We were on the ward for about 6 hours in total but due to the fact my partner was able to continue sitting in the waiting area between tests this settled him down and they were able to complete the majority of tests. I would like to say a huge thank you to all staff involved in his care for all they do. I would also like to note that every single member of staff on the ward did not seem to stop and yet they treated every patient with as much care and respect they had shown my partner. You are all stars.
Closed my referral without seeing me

I was referred by my GP to dermatology but they just closed my case without even seeing me so I had to be rereferred but this time to West Suffolk and they saw me quickly and started treatment.
Great Eye Clinic
Eye Clinic

I attend the eye clinic every 6 weeks and I'm always able to get the appointments when they are needed and even through covid the timeframes remained good and the staff are great.
Very good
Paediatrics/children services
November 28, 2022
Chronic fatigue support is very good but paediatrics is a bit different as it difficult to know sometimes who is leading on treatment when so many consultants are involved. We have been waiting for a review that should've happened in May this year but still hasn't and haven't heard anything from them. All appointments are delayed and contacts are given so it is difficult to chase or check what is going on.

I was very impressed to receive my 3 yearly echocardiogram early on a Sunday morning, two or three weeks after my GP's referral. The clinician was prompt, friendly and efficient. Thank you
Nightmare
Fracture department and orthopaedics

I went to the fracture clinic this morning with a fractured knee. Sent home again having nothing done and told to wait six weeks for a CT scan. I am in my 70s and sitting at home with excruciating pain and taking morphine
Little care for needs
October 12, 2022
I had to go all the way into this hospital just to have a Covid test 2 days before returning for the treatment. How ridiculous, as I could have got Covid and positive 2 days later on my return, when they did not do a test! They barely told me anything. I was then discharged and I have no car and I was not asked how I was getting home. Thankfully others in the clinic lived near me and offered me a lift.
I returned for the procedure a couple of days later (pollyps in throat). I have heard nothing about the results of this. Had to ask the surgery to chase who said 'you need to go to the hospital for that.' Very frustrating.

Very pleased - Seen quickly
Cancer services

I was referred to the hospital on a two week wait and I have been seen very quickly. This has happened twice and each time an urgent referral has been done I've been seen with in the timeframe.
Good care and treatment
Cancer services
October 7, 2022
I'm receiving cancer treatment and was recently sent to The Oaks in Colchester for a CT scan which was quick to be arranged. I've received good treatment and care from the hospital and although I receive a call every two months I would prefer a face to face appointment more often as I've mainly had phone calls. The hospital pharmacy is great and arranges my monthly prescriptions to be delivered to the house so long as some one is in to receive them, that works really well.
Appointment at stour gynaecology clinic
Gynaecology

Receptionist was friendly, efficient and polite and directed me to waiting area. Appointment time was 3.20 and I was called in by 3.30. Nurse explained that Dr that I had appointment with was not in so advised of change. I was nervous and unsure what to expect but very quickly and efficiently informed of procedures to be undertaken. I had a biopsy and hysteroscopy which I hadn’t anticipated but staff were fantastic. I didn’t feel overly embarrassed or uncomfortable and was kept informed and reassured at all stages. The information I was given was well explained and throughout I was being spoken to which made me feel more relaxed and respected. They worked together as a great team
