Treated well

Eye Clinic

I have had dry eyes for almost 3 years and treated here. Some times I have had several visits in a short space of time. Every one is lovely and kind there and they usually run on time.

Access to antenatal classes

Maternity
June 24, 2022
We have tried to access the Antenatal and Hypnobirthing but the message said *due to covid classes are not running.' This was very disappointing. This was via the ESNEFT website. We ended up paying for the NCT classes which we can afford, but many would not be able to do that.

I had one miscarriage, and had no support before I was 12 weeks pregnant again. This for me was the most anxious time when I needed some reassurance, as this is the time that you have little movement and no real sign there is a baby there.

The midwife at Ivry street is amazing.

Seen quickly considering

Accident and emergency services

We went into A&E with our child. At the door the lady said 'only one of you can stay'. As I had checked the website before visiting I disputed this as it states that both parents can stay for paediatrics. The system did not allow us to be 2 mums though, which in this day and age is ridiculous and just feels disrespectful to have one of us have to be put as a 'friend'.
The board said the wait was 8+ hours. and this was 5am on a mid-week day. Trying to keep an autistic child occupied for that length of time is really difficult. We were however, seen in half that amount of time, much to our relief.
The doctor who saw us was not a paediatric doctor, though I am not sure if that mattered at this stage. They were asking questions to our child with a mask on and as they had a heavy accent, it was really difficult to understand him for us. Our child was not engaged in anyway in being able to answer him or follow his instructions. He showed patience though, and we mentioned ASD and he was then a bit more softer with his words and more specific with his words.
We were sent away with medication and a pass to access Paediatrics over the next 48 hours. No further information was given. Which turned out to be a bit of an issue when we contacted Paediatrics.

Barely informed me

Maternity
June 22, 2022
During Covid - they tried to make me have an induction when I went in for a 39 week scan (due to baby size). I flatly refused and was able to deliver the baby myself on my due date. They barely informed us about anything. E.G. Just 'we are breaking your waters' - no information to us about the infection risk etc.
Now on my 2nd pregnancy - I have not seen the same midwife twice. I have any appointment today to look at my birth plan.

Felt unsupported

Maternity
June 21, 2022
My experience when having my baby was mixed. The actual birth was good but I had little continuity. Afterwards, I didn't feel at all supported when I had difficulties breastfeeding. I had really wanted to breastfeed but I had so little help that I didn't manage to in the end which was a real shame.

Referral was good

Dermatology
June 20, 2022
I was referred by my doctor and was seen by the specialist at the hospital. They said I would get treatment in about 2-3 weeks but I'm now being told it will be July, although no date has been confirmed which is over a month away. I've tried talking to the dermatology and plastic surgery departments a number of times but they've never returned my call and the same has happened with the specialist nurse, you're told they will call but it never happens.

Never had such a good efficient service .

Ear Nose and Throat
June 16, 2022
I am an advocate for an elderly lady whom we have looked after for some years now.
We attended the hearing Clinic as she has become virtually stone deaf. We were seen promptly and dealt with within half an hour from start to finish. No being sent here
to wait again and again as is the practice in the eye Dept. Superb service.

Excellent care, all staff caring and helpful

Acute Eye clinic
June 15, 2022
Having visited the outpatients and eye clinic for treatment of an eye infection several times since just after Easter all staff that I have been in contact with from the volunteers in outpatients reception, all staff in the eye clinic, nurses doctors and my consultant have been outstanding in their care and courteous approach. The pharmacy staff have also been excellent including the delivery driver who brought the items owing from my visit last Thursday. Please convey my sincere thanks to them all, they are second to none!!!

I was referred by my GP and was seen quickly in person at the hospital. Through out the treatment I've been seen face to face and everything has been explained well and all letters received have been accurate.

Excellent care, attention and information

Raedwald Day Surgery Unit
May 27, 2022
From entering South Theatres Admission Unit, in Ipswich Hospital, under the care, to leaving from the Lavenham Ward, I had constant and excellent care and attention, from everyone.
This includes the Vascular Imaging Department, and the Drive Through test station, for Covid 19 Swab test.
Thank you
