Ipswich Hospital X Ray

October 21, 2019
Things are more difficult to access take longer for referral into hospital services. Once accessing here they are really good and caring. It forms part of a bigger picture of care.

Orthopaedics

After a serious collision which resulted in an amputation, I was transferred to Ipswich as an inpatient from Addenbrooke's ( First class hospital )
I had a bad discharge from Ipswich with no aftercare into accommodation which I felt was unsuitable...basically expected to just get on with life as normal despite having a life changing injury.

ED good, but EAU/POD barbaric

Emergency assessment unit
September 27, 2019
Experience in ED good. Treatment caring and professional. Once transferred to Emergency Assessment Unit I was horrified by treatment. I spent 14 hours on a trolley - they don’t provide patients beds. I lost feeling in my legs. One nurse told clerk to “ignore” dementia patient who was distressed and calling for help. Another distressed patient was praying out loud whilst ignored by staff. I was physically grabbed at by man who could not get blood. The department should be closed down.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. We apologise your experience in our assessment area was not what it should have been. Our General Manager and clinical teams for Emergency care have listened to your comments and are taking these forward for both specific staff learning and potential changes in policy, to ensure a more comfortable experience for our patients. Many thanks

Ongoing support is poor

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

18 months ago I had treatment to try and have implants(I have had all my teeth removed due to cancer treatment). The screws have been set but I've still heard nothing about the next steps. I am very depressed about it as I can only eat puree food and I yearn to eat an apple.
I have been promised a call from PALs and 2 weeks later still not heard from them.
It is very traumatic.

I was invisible

Orthopaedics
September 10, 2019
There wasn't enough communication between staff and patient. Not enough food - meaning the numbers of patients to provide the right amount of dinners. I went hungry. Too many visitors per bed, it was very noisy on the ward. Very loud staff, banging cupboards and shouting in the offices on the ward. Care of me, I was invisible. However I didn't have to wait long as I got a cancellation appointment, thank goodness. Was Lavender ward, in trauma and orthopaedics.

Treatment was great but communication poor

Ophthalmology
September 10, 2019
At the follow up the consultant did not explain about macular degeneration enough and told me she didn't need to see me any more. I have written to my doctor to find out what information she has received and am waiting for a reply.
The treatment was great but not what was found out.
