Looked after well

Specialist women\\\'s health
March 5, 2020
I was looked after really well whilst going through major surgery. I was very distressed by the whole situation, as I was there quite suddenly after they found a huge tumour in my gut area. I was supposed to be 3rd on the day, but due to my anxiety they moved me to first so had less waiting and thinking time. After 3 1/2 hours of surgery I was out and looked after so well by the team. With my poor mental health and worries around this whole situation, I cannot thank them enough. (Stour Ward)

Excellent service in A&E on Saturday 29/2

Accident and emergency services
March 2, 2020
My mother in law (name removed) was referred to A&E via the Riverside out of hours service. Although there was a long wait the care she received from the nurse who carried out the initial assessment, the doctor and the nurse (name removed) who took her details once it was decided she should be admitted was excellent. They all took time to ensure that we fully understood what was happening & showed the outmost care & concern.

Cancellation and lack of communication

Urology
March 2, 2020
I received a letter from the hospital urology department to attend a consultation before Christmas 2019 but this appointment was cancelled by the hospital due to unforeseen circumstances. I am now unsure whether to go back to my GP or to try to follow up with a letter to the Urology department as I really need some support with my issue.

I sat there all night in A & E

Accident and emergency services
March 2, 2020
I waited a very long time in A & E and they wouldn't allow me to go home. I sat there all night long in a corridor and eventually got home 11 am the next day, I was so tired.

Waiting around too long

Ophthalmology

Waiting around is one of the biggest bugbears. No consistency. Sometimes lack of seating near consulting room means your too far away to hear when called. Consultations are often rushed and advice sometimes contradictory to previous advice.

Waiting for medication for hours

Hospital pharmacy
February 14, 2020
I was discharged from hospital at 10am but I had to wait for my medication before I was allowed to leave to go home, I had to wait until 5pm before the medications arrived to allow me to go, this was too long this needs to be looked at.

Unable to support my food intolerances well

Claydon ward
February 14, 2020
I have had a couple of visits to this ward and the care is very good from the doctors and nurses, the attitude of staff was excellent. The only issue I had on both occasions was that the hospital were not good at supporting me with my food needs, I am diary intolerant, celiac and diabetic type 2, I know it makes it difficult for them to prepare but this bit was poor.

Unable to support my food intolerance

Shotley Ward
February 14, 2020
In early 2019 I was sent directly to Shotley Ward, the care was very good on the ward but unfortunately because I am dairy intolerant and Celiac and diabetic Type 2, I was quite a challenge for them with what I could eat sadly I felt they were unable to support me very well at all with food.
