No assessment

December 11, 2023
Autism Diagnostic Service Suffolk - Referred by GP to somewhere near Lowestoft and they've not agreed to assess as they said 'well you didn't have it as a child, so not got it now!' I am in my 70's looking for answers and as my children/grandchildren have been diagnosed and I know I have managed myself due to situations, but feel not listening to me now. I just want to make sense of it all.

Getting support

December 4, 2023
I do feel that I'm getting support from the service and the consultant I've seen has been good.

Brilliant

December 4, 2023
Support provided by the Early Intervention Team has been brilliant and I can see a doctor or nurse when needed. It's been so good with this team I really can't fault them as they are on it all the time. We have had problems with my surgery saying that a letter sent has not arrived for 4 weeks and my Care Co ordinator has to constantly chase them to get any where with them. They just say the medication prescribed by the team are too rare and difficult to get.

Brilliant

December 1, 2023
My Care coordinator has been brilliant and has been with me for two years, never cancelled an appointment and I always hear back and get messages. My family are kept well informed too. My psychiatrist has been good and the team have planned lots of activites for me to do.

The support I've had from the psychiatrist at Haymills has been excellent and they have done everything they could.

Fortnightly visits

November 2, 2023
Funding is so restricted that I've only had fortnightly visits from the IDT but the additional therapies offered haven't been available. The Zoom sessions had lots of text and being dyslexic it made it difficult to follow. In person sessions were offered twice a week in Bury but as a carer and not being able to drive made it very difficult to be able to attend.

Supportive link worker

September 25, 2023
I've found the link worker at my surgery supportive and has kept me on track. I've been able to have appointments every 8 weeks and this has helped to keep me on track. There needs to be more peer support groups in the Sudbury area.

No crisis support

September 18, 2023
There is no help around when it comes to crisis and they tend to just say call the Samaritans . I do know now that I can go to the hospital and now there is the 111 mental health support.

Very difficult

September 18, 2023
Options are limited. My ADHD journey has been very difficult it took 18 months to get a diagnosis and then I was only given medication. There is very limited support available. I decided to go down the right to choose route but this has meant I'm now barred from GP support for the ADHD.

Limited community support

August 16, 2023
Because support is not avaiable in the community patients end up going to A&E to get some support.
