Limited support
July 24, 2023
I've struggled to access mental health support, its basically a call every 6 weeks or so and very limited.
Responsive

I've found the service to be responsive both by phone and in person and I regularly see the same member of staff. I feel included in the discharge process and feel that I've been treated as an individual and supported well by fantastic staff.
Limited support

I have a terminal condition and the support available from any of the mental health services or support organisations is really limited. There was a very limited amount of support from the link worker at my surgery, I saw them once then nothing happened. Unfortuantely all mental health support for those with longer term terminal conditions are all short term and once you had support from them they basically discharge you and suggest trying another organisation. I've been through them all and so now I'm not eligible for any support it seems. There's no safety net to catch people who need more than the set number of sessions they each offer, whether it be Macmillan , the hospice or here from NSFT.
Lacking

Support is lacking. I was referred to NSFT and was given a support worker but I only saw her two or three times before she disappeared and all support dropped away.
mental health

Have tried to get help with my mental health for years and it was only when the police got involved that anything happened and I've been offered support. All I get though is one call every two weeks and thats not enough. I've called 111-2 when I was in crisis and have had to wait so long to get through I've just hung up. I was number 1 in the queue and still waited 45 minutes. Haverhill is a deadzone when it comes to mental health support and there needs to be a permanent mental health team based in the community.

I have found the ongoing care excellent by them. I am linked up with Suffolk Mind for my support worker. The service ring me monthly for a review and I have access to the 24 hour helpline if I need it.
Nothing available

Everything just stopped due to covid. Suddenly all the support I was getting just disappeared and since then I've had nothing. My medications haven't been reviewed regularly and have recently been told that because I was left on medication for longer than I should've been I now have heart issues and will have to come off the medication all together which is very worrying.
No support for ASD and sensory difficulties
August 29, 2022
There is no post diagnosis support for children with ASD and sensory difficulties. The occupational therapy team don't appear to deal with any sensory difficulties once a child is over 5 and as it's virtually impossible to get an ASD diagnosis in the first place, let alone before 5....
Sensory difficulties have a hugely negative affect on my child's life and we've been left with no choice but to seek out an independent occupational therapist and pay for assessment and support/advice.
The lack of nhs support means many ASD children struggle to cope in school, schools don't know to support them and also cannot access the right support/advice which is contributing to the local authority's issues with demand for specialist placements.
An appropriately trained and accessible sensory OT service who can support and advise is desperately needed in Suffolk

Very difficult

Getting any kind of real help is very difficult you just go round in circles with different professionals suggesting different diagnosis and treatments.
Waiting times seem better
July 26, 2022
In the past I've been offered counselling on a couple of occassions but each time I've had to wait months to access the support. By the time it's offered I've been managing on my own but this time, it has been a shorter wait which is an improvement.
