Great

Accident and emergency services
December 14, 2022
I was taken by ambulance twice to the hospital and each time I was seen quickly in A&E and they had a team waiting for me to arrive. The staff were all great, they explained everything every step of the way and made sure I knew what to do when at home. I had really great treatment and care.

A&E very busy

Accident and emergency services
December 12, 2022
When I went last to A&E on the advice of my GP it was full to bursting. I waited 6 hours to be seen. There were so many people there that had either been sent by their GP or because they weren't able to be seen by their GP. The staff though were amazing, very caring and helpful.

Busy A&E

Respiratory Medicine
December 12, 2022
When I've been sent to A&E by my GP it is obvious there are many people in the same situation who have been told to go there by their doctors. It seems that there is a need for doctors to be able to refer patients to hospital without the need for them to go to A&E which should be for emergencies. While I was there I also saw a registrar trying to track down a patient in the department, again it wasn't the best use of their time to spend so long searching when they could've been treating someone else. The sheer capacity isn't there so where possible patients need to treated via a different pathway when they need tests or investigations that GPs can't do.

very good care

Respiratory Medicine
December 12, 2022
I've had very good respiratory care and the staff have explained every step of the way. It would be great to have email contact with my consultants secretary so that I can keep them up to date easily on issues they need to know. The OPAC team have been wonderful especially during covid when they did home visits and were really supportive which gives a lot of confidence.

Staff very good

Cancer services
December 12, 2022
At a professional level the staff have been perfect and communication and explanations about my condition and treatment have been very good. However, I was given pads to use but I wasn't told which way round to use them and I wasn't given basic information about where light switches were which would've helped when I was first admitted. When I had an issue the staff member was very calming when dealing with it and I felt the surgeon has approached my care holistically

Great stay

December 12, 2022
I've had a great experience while I've been in. Everything has been good and the staff really put you at ease and relax you. Nurses and doctors have been very caring. I'm waiting for my transport home but I'm not sure when it will be.

moved wards overnight

Discharge lounge
December 9, 2022
I was moved from the ward to the discharge lounge overnight which I didn't really like and have been here nearly 12 hours. The care provided has been good but moving during the night was unsettling.

Mainly good

December 9, 2022
It's mainly been good during my stay on the wards but I've been left on the toilet a few times and have been unable to get staff when I needed to go back to bed. The toilets are really hard and uncomfortable when you are there for any length of time. Food is really good and the choice of meals has been good. Water has been bought round regularly too. Care from staff has been very good during my long stay and my family have been able to visit.

Care been good

December 9, 2022
The care on the ward has been good and things have been explained well but there have been no televisions available on the ward which when you are staying for a long time is difficult. There is an assumption that you will have a smart phone or other device to access entertainment and if you don't it can make the days very long. The food has been ok but not great.

Communication Hub limited

Stroke services
December 9, 2022
The scope and support offered by the communication hub at the hospital is limited probably due to a lack of funding. There is a real need for additional support for those with aphasia. Once you are medically discharged there is little ongoing support for the long road to recovery. Finding any information about the support available is also very difficult.
