Attended to assess a resident. Care Coordinator and Ward Manager were available. Were able to give details of patient's care, and clearly knew the patient well.

Staff patient and understanding

Never had to hang around. Called resident to room quickly. Gentleman was understanding and patient, tried to put resident at ease. Unit allowed us to wait for pick up and called ambulance services to collect as we had waited three hours.

So supportive

The staff from the cleaners to the top consultant worked tirelessly to help patients through every moment of recovery. They were so supportive, never stopping, and are not getting paid what they are worth. The food was so good, with a nice choice of meals. Could improve by not making them short-staffed, and pay more money.

Resident sent an unrequired appointment

Resident attended eye clinic appointment, only to be told that they had previously had the planned treatment. Resident has dementia, and had to be accompanied to the appointment by a carer, which the resident's family had to pay for. I asked if the doctor who made the mistake would be reimbursing these costs. I was told "you know that won't happen, this is the NHS".

All staff were first class

My wife had to go to West Suffolk Hospital. She was very concerned at her condition and stressed as you feared she would be receiving bad news. All of the staff were first class, everything was spot on. She was very upset when we arrived but the staff quickly calmed her in a very professional manner.

Smooth discharge

Very good care, good explanations and my discharge went well and it was all done smoothly. Parking is an issue, it takes time to get a space. It would be better to be given a voucher to reduce the cost of parking and make it easier when attending appointments regularly.

Communication between hopitals not good

I was sent to hospital but they seemed indecisive about how they would be treating me and it felt like I was a guinea pig at times. Communication between West Suffolk Hospital and Addenbrookes has not been great, its been slower and more difficult than it needs to be.

Specialist nurses call you back promptly

The department has been very good, the referral was made and I had an appointment in a week. The specialist nurses have been excellent especially in the early days, they call you back very quickly

F4 staff were friendly

F4 was a very clean ward with friendly, gentle, kind and professional staff. You didn't see the same staff but their attitudes were all fantastic. Really good to see the consultant and anesthetist and I can't rate them highly enough.

Great support

The cancer support services, especially the Macmillan service are very good and the specialist nurse always calls you back. There is an emergency number which I know I can call if I need help at any time.
