Five star treatment

I had an accident and broke my ankle and the staff here were fabulous. I had to wait 72 hours for my op. because the ambulance service took so long to get me to the hospital that there was excessive swelling. So my stay was longer than in needed to be. I feel that while at the hospital I received five star treatment. Couldn't fault any part of the experience doctors/nurses/health care assistants-all very professional and caring.

Cancer services

I moved to Brandon from Cambridge three years ago. My cancer care was moved from Addenbrokes to West Suffolk Hospital. It was so much better! The doctors were good at Addenbrokes but my appointments were forever being cancelled or changed which was very frustrating. West Suffolk Hospital works like clockwork-so much better!

End of life care

My mum was admitted for the final two weeks of her life. She was receiving palliative care and the staff were all brilliant. So thoughtful and caring, full marks!

Wonderful doctors... treated quickly and with care! Nurses were all super.... treated me like a human not just another patient! Couldn’t have asked for more considering I had a 2 night stay!

Very comprehensive

I was referred to the hospital by my opticians as they thought I had had a stroke. The consultant confirmed that I had experienced a TIA and that as far as he was concerned this had happened a week or two ago and that from the stroke perspective I could be discharged home. That said he then told me that he had a colleague who wanted a word with me. I was then spoken to by a diabetes consultant who told me that my blood/sugar levels were so out of kilter that I needed to stay in for a couple of days. I don't know whether the stroke threw the bloods out or whether the bloods caused the stroke-or maybe they were unrelated. Whichever, I was impressed by the very comprehensive and holistic nature of the examination I received.

Nothing could have been better

This is my first visit to this department for this issue. I was referred by my GP and I don't think that any part of the process could have gone better. It has taken about eight weeks but it isn't an urgent issue. Process has been smooth with all paperwork arriving as expected. I needed to change my appointment due to a family matter and I was pleasantly surprised because the date got closer as I got a cancellation appointment which was sooner than my original.

So professional

This is my first visit following a referral from my GP. I have just had my hearing test which was very comprehensive and carried out with great professionalism. According to the results I need two hearing aids as both my ears are less than perfect but in different ways. I should have my hearing aids in 5-6 weeks which is great. Especially when I recall that it took me over two years to get around to going to the doctors about my poor hearing in the first place.

Pretty quick so far!

This is my first visit-I was sent by my GP when I visited them due to my poor hearing. I explained that my partner found the TV volume unbearable if I was the one who adjusted it!!! My visit to my GP was less than a month ago so it has been pretty quick so far.

This is my second (set) of appointments. I moved to Suffolk about three years ago and my file must have been forwarded to the hospital because I was called in then for a consultation. I am called in every two years and at my last visit I was told I needed different hearing aids-which I collect today! WSH is much better than my previous hospital (in Herts.). The best thing is the staff, friendly-efficient-knowledgeable and happy to answer all of my questions. they don't treat me as if I am an idiot.

Service is great

My experience is that the service in audiology is great. This is my 4th appointment. I was referred by my surgery in Thetford to the health centre and they referred me on to West Suffolk Hospital where I am now under consultant care. The only blip in all of this is that the hospital had to change my last appointment for some reason and I then had 3-4 letters which gave differing information and sometimes contradicted each other. In the end I had to 'phone in for clarification but I couldn't get through-my wife had a go on another day and she got through and while on the 'phone it was all sorted out fairly quickly.
