Service too hard to access

April 6, 2025
Since the changes were made to Amina system I have found that it is very difficult to get any appointments for things unless you are at near death emergency. The receptionists are different, some very helpful over the phone and others are very rude. Most days there is only one doctor in so I understand that they have a lot of patients who need help but I don’t understand why they are so understaffed and I don’t understand how it worked so much better before the new booking system came in. Also they took away the lady who delt with mental health needs. She was very helpful but they got rid of her.

Issues getting a blood test

January 20, 2025
Recently had an issue getting a blood test after coming home from hospital. The consultant asked for it to be done as soon as possible but staff at the surgery didn't read all the notes so said it wasn't needed quickly. I had to keep encouraging them to read further in to the information where the consultant had clearly said what was needed. In the end they did so I was able to get an appointment booked.

Fantastic staff, Anima system does not work.

January 16, 2025
I had to make a routine appointment for my child at doctors request. I was able to get an appointment quickly but as no choice and not much notice I wasn't able to leave work and pick her up from school in time. I tried calling surgery to either explain and couldn't get through on time. So I went to the surgery myself so as not to waste the appointment. But I now have to rearrange with the same issues? And I still feel I wasted that appointment. There is no way around the system...all the staff were very helpful as always but still doesn't help if you're at work etc please review this system.

Helpful staff

Works well for me as I can get appointments with a doctor when needed. There really aren't too many issues here and staff have been helpful.

Having a narrower time frame for call backs would be good

Having a narrower time frame for call backs would be good but for serious stuff works well. The HCA at the surgery has been great and although phone consultations don't cover all the issues they are useful and suit me well.

Telephone consultations are better for me.

November 11, 2024
Telephone consultations are better for me. I was given one but wasn't given a time for the call and didn't know who was calling me and then my notes hadn't been read and I had to go over everything whilst feeling there was pressure to be quick. Even though I called at 10.30 in the morning I still got the call back that day. Having to say what the issue is at reception isn't easy and having the additional barrier in front of the desk makes it less welcoming. For quick and urgent issues they do get on with it.

Reception staff amazing

November 11, 2024
It's such a busy surgery and I completely understand how hard they try. The reception staff are amazing, kind and thoughtful. It is very difficult to see a specific GP and it can be a 6 week wait, I was offered appointments with other members of the team sooner but decided against it. The shifts then changed and waited another 4 weeks when I then saw the GP of my choosing. We've seen a couple of different GPs for my daughters issue but it took a while to get a diagnosis.

Had a telephone consultation and was put on medication, they didn't see me and I ended up in A&E as it was a reaction to it and a misdiagnosis of the actual problem I had.

Had a telephone consultation and was put on medication, they didn't see me and I ended up in A&E as it was a reaction to it and a misdiagnosis of the actual problem I had. The problem is that once one GP says it is something each following person you speak to stays on the same line of thinking. I will now try to see the same GP more often rather than different people.

Long wait for non urgent appointments

November 11, 2024
Making the appointments is difficult but I've waited up to a month to see a GP for a non urgent issue. On the day/ urgent issues are easier, although I do find it hard to hear what is said during phone consultations. I have told reception this and this is why I've been given this appointment. Blood tests are difficult to get so I tend to go to Newmarket as it is easier to get appointments. Staff are usually good at running to time but the annual reviews are completed by phone, not a lot of information given unfortunately.

Appointments difficult to get

September 23, 2024
I've had some difficulty getting appointments as you have to call on the day and are then told to call back the next day or call 111. Sometimes it depends who you speak to with how helpful they are, not all staff are as good as others.
