Had to keep going back

July 18, 2024
There was an immediate assumption that the problem was an underlying condition and not something new. I didn't feel listened to by the GPs, I knew it was a new issue . If I hadn't kept going back who knows what would've happened as I ended up having treatment and an operation for cancer.

Good but

March 22, 2024
The surgery is good and appointments are okay to get but it's not made clear that you won't be seeing a member of the practice team and in fact you're being given a GP+ appointment at the surgery. It was only when I had the appointment that I was told that I needed to go back to my own surgery for the results that I realised I wasn't seeing my own surgery staff. I was happy with the member of staff I saw it's just I feel it should be made clear.

Busy surgery

March 1, 2024
It's a busy surgery and it is more challenging to get appointments. The nurse appointment I had booked has been cancelled twice so I've been waiting a couple of months now to be seen. I have recently seen a doctor instead which was arranged by the reception team. I've had good support from the doctors, I seen different people but the care has been good although I would prefer better continuity.

Pleasant staff

Most of the time get appointments when needed but I rarely use the surgery as the hospital are more involved with my care but when I do need to the staff are pleasant.

Has improved

It all seems to work. I've been able to book appointments for both the nurse and GP. I do feel at times reception staff stray in to medical decisions. My Consultant says one thing but then they disagree, it doesn't seem right.

Care is good

March 1, 2024
The care and seeing a GP is very good but getting to that point isn't so good and to have an appointment is the last option given on the long message on the phone. More often than not they do not give you a face to face appointment. At times it does feel like you are an inconvenience and the greeting received by staff on reception would put some people off and I've lost confidence in them after they dismissed my need to be seen when it turned out the issue I had was serious. It does appear at times they are triaging and deciding if you can be seen. I do like that the doctor comes out to the waiting room to collect you.

All good

The telephone consultation I had led to a face to face appointment a week later so I feel that it works well for me.

Appointments are challenging to get

March 1, 2024
Getting appointments are challenging and I've been told there's nothing available. I have had telephone calls but I would prefer to have a face to face appointment as English is not my first language. It can be difficult to understand medical terminology especially on the phone. I did recently receive a text message that had a different time to the one I was given and I would've been late if I'd gone by the text message.

Busy phones

March 1, 2024
The phones are very busy normally however I only had to wait 7 minutes this morning and I've managed to get a face to face appointment for our child straight away and I felt very well listened to when discussing the issue. I've also been given a GP+ appointment at the weekend and have used econsult for simple things and that has worked well. I have had an experience when I called when I was told to to arrange an appointment when the rota was done only to then be told all the appointments were gone and it would be a further 6-8 weeks. Today when I visited I had problems with the check in screen and this meant I had a very long wait to be seen but staff did fit me in.

Brilliant

March 1, 2024
The surgery is brilliant for me however my husband has a different experience as he has struggled to get seen when needed. My asthma is well monitored and when I need an appointment I've been well listened to and been able to arrange appointments for the following day. I have been cut off when calling the surgery and have then had to call again and join the queue again which is frustrating.
