Through in 10 mins!

Not used this in last year but so good today as I got through in 10 mins on the telephone, and I find that very good for a Monday morning! I was offered an appointment straight away. All good as far as I am concerned.

Great under the circumstances

I think the service does great under the circumstances. Personally, I am a patient person so I do not make demands, but as I am a reasonably well person, I can be like that.

Needed face to face

Find that some things done over the telephone, sometimes need a face to face. Recently with a skin issue, after two calls, cream and photo's I eventually gained a referral. It just feels like there are unnecessary delays when you are not seen face to face for some things.

Thank you for spending time sending feedback. It’s very important that we hear from our patients on their experience at the surgery.
Many departments at the hospital require a certain amount of treatment from your GP Practice before referrals are accepted. Our Clinicians are always available to see patients in person if required or if the patient requests this.

Long waits on telephone!

Two things: you cannot book blood test online, so have to phone - currently 8 minutes, and number 7 in queue!
And secondly, very annoying to have to listen to all four options, before choosing 1!

Dear patient,
thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. The reception team are always working extremely hard to manage the amount of calls coming through throughout the day and we have 'live' data coming through from our phone provider letting us know when the phones are particularly busy. At our busiest times we often have increased numbers of staff answering the calls to manage the waiting time. To be honest, waiting for 8 minutes is completely acceptable. We would love to be able to answer all calls immediately but unfortunately this would be impossible.
We don't currently offer booking online for blood tests as we have found in the past that patients can book in incorrectly, not having enough time allocated, not being advised of particular criteria, not having the appropriate paperwork and this leads to a lot of wasted appointment time.

See the right person

I am new to this service when we moved not so long ago. I have not seen a GP, but I have not needed to. You do notice that it is not generally the 'norm' anymore. The person I have seen has been the right person.

We are lucky enough to have a large number of clinicians at the surgery including GP's, Nurse Practitioners, Paramedics, Practice Nurses etc. We always try and allocate the most appropriate clinician to our patients and face to face appointments are always available. I am glad to hear your experience has always been a positive one.

Prefer face to face

As an older person, I find that the telephone triage call back less personal. I do also feel that because you do not expect the call, you are caught on the hop and do not think of everything that you would if you prepared yourself for the face to face appointment, which I would prefer.

Our triage system is based on phone call first. Please let the clinician know that you would like to be seen face to face and this can be arranged for you. Many patients are happy to be dealt with on the telephone if clinically appropriate but we are aware that a lot of our patients prefer to be seen in person and we are always keen to accommodate this.

excellent service

i really like the way they use the triage system. i phoned for an appointment at 11.30am and had a call back an hour later. i was offered a face to face appointment for the afternoon and was given a prescription the same day. brilliant !!

Staff are kind, caring and supportive

I had to have a colonoscopy recently here. I found the clinic to have a personal approach. They were thorough and I experienced great care from the whole team, they checked things well and were very reassuring. Staff were kind, caring and supportive.

They don't help with ear wax

I think it is such a shame that some services are no longer available to the public when they are really needed. To give you an example they no longer help me with ear wax removal, this is a real problem and I am being told I have to go private so that I can hear, how can that be right? I also have a persistent verucca I thought that they would freeze it off for me but they will not.

Dear Patient,
Unfortunately the NHS can no longer provide services for ear wax removal, this is no longer deemed as an essential service. There are many local providers who can do this for you or you can discuss issues similar to this with your local Pharmacist who will be extremely helpful.

Easy to get appointments

I find the surgery to offer a good service, its easy to get appointments when needed, they do automatic follow up check ups for me, I cannot fault them myself. I have a blood condition and every 3-4 months they take and send off to the Royal Free hospital they are absolutely brill. Staff attitude also very good. Ladies MOT's done regular the nurse makes you feel at ease, they are very efficient. I have to mention the vaccination programme it was amazing how they operated with that, it was like a military operation.
