A brilliant team

Endoscopy: I'd give the department 10 if I could they were fantastic, the best. The staff were great, they explained everything to make you feel comfortable and I can't fault them. Considering it's not a nice procedure, I would happily go again they were so good.

Very good staff

Accident and emergency services

We went to A & E with my son as he was having an asthma attack. We arrived by ambulance after the GP called for one. We were seen immediately and very quickly the treatment worked. We stayed in for about 4 hours until stabilised and then went home. The staff throughout were really good. We were then referred to the asthma clinic at our GP's.

Short waiting time for operation

My wife was recently referred to West Suffolk Hospital for a hip replacement and she is being operated on next week. She has only had to wait 6-8 weeks for this appointment to come through which is very quick.

A great experience at West Suffolk Hospital

July 14, 2015
I was seen for a pre assessment check this morning and the staff at the hospital were great they gave my daughter colouring pens etc. and I was amazed how great they were. I was seen early and there were 2 doctors in the room. They've explained all of the procedures in details, to a disabled individual who has hydrocephus, and have talked through all of the potential problems. I'm now waiting for the operation to take place.

Nurse with no bedside manner and poor care

Respiratory Medicine
July 3, 2015
Taken to A&E At 7pm took 2.25hours to be seen, once seen staff were very good. Had to wait till 3am for bed. First ward I was was put on was very good was there for one night, then moved to respiratory ward and put in a isolation room. Here is where it went wrong. Nurses trying to give me the wrong dose of medications, signing to say I had had injections, when I had not. Left for hours own my own, nurse unable
To put in new cannula, after 4 attempt I said leave it, 6 hours later another nurse done it first time. I sat/slept in a blood stained bed for 3 days and had to ask for sheets to be changed. On 10th night I was moved to another ward at 10.30pm, no one came to check on me till 8.30am. I discharged myself that day. I would have rather gone home and died then stay at this hospital another day.

Delays with the pre assessment unit

June 30, 2015
I was given a pre assessment appointment for an operation coming up and the same day as I was given the date they phoned to say they had no doctor available. I was given a new appointment 2 days later. When I attend the appointment staff did start the assessment but I was told no doctor was there yet and they were coming from Cambridge. I had to wait about 45 minutes for the doctor in the end.

After my fall i was taken to WSH to have investigation. They identified that I had a blood clot on my brain. I was treated really well by all staff and then referred on to Addenbrooks. I could not fault the care I received.

Really great, great team and really lovely

I have to say that I was so happy with the service in the emergency A&E Department. My mum Broke her ankle in two places and was in a lot of pain but the staff were great. There was a nurse with her all the time and they were very kind and caring and I would like to thank the whole team.
