Following a broken ankle my mother has been to the fracture clinic twice. The first time she had to wait about 3 hours; it seemed they had forgotten her, but on the second visit she was seen really quickly. The staff have been good at explaining what would happen and what needed to be done
Good treatment by A&E staff

My mum was taken to A&E after injuring her ankle. She was seen really quickly and all the staff but particularly one nurse were great. They were very good at comforting her and calming her down

I went to see the consultant, the nurse did a blood test and explained everything that she was doing. The consultant then spoke to my dad and I about my condition and we asked any questions we needed to. The results came through quickly and were fed back to my GP

I have been attending for about 5 years and they are so friendly and polite. I would not go to any other hospital. Everything is explained well.

Stroke services

While my struggle to get help as I live alone is indelibly imprinted on my memory I only remain able to remember patches of the journey - nothing of my time in A & E and just a snatch of a Dr (Name removed) telling me I was going to be alright. I had suffered a taci stroke and a fully dissected carotid artery - my friends were told I would be in hospital at least till chrsitmas.- I got out after 12 days - not because I wanted to but because I needed to get back to my own home. The care I experienced was unsurpassable - and I heard the way staff spoke to other patients it was a privilege to be witness. I have never been a patient before only the care of a patient, which sometimes wasn't easy. But I can only say that I was overwhelmed! The only thing I would say for younger stroke patients would have been nice to get some help with bills and council. When I was finally able to access the help it was good but for a worrying couple of months with an inability to speak or write. 4 days after my discharge I had to spend time in the CAB office trying to get help with a form for a rent rebate. In the end I felt I had no choice but to go back to work just two months after my stroke. It hasn't been easy. I felt like death sometimes but I have to keep going.
