I received a phone call on Thursday offering an appointment at the department on the following Monday. I went in on Monday for my cataract operation, everything went well and the nurses were great. It was very successful and the best service I've ever received.

Very disappointing, feel let down & lied to

April 28, 2015
I have previously had an endoscopy at this unit under sedation and have very little recollection of this experience apart from gagging as the tube was removed at the end of the procedure. I fully understand that one does not loose consciousness but the sedation acts like a amnesiac. I have a phobia about things sticking in my throat (Childhood experience) and exhausted this to staff preforming this latest Gastroscopy yet the women chose to spray my throat and administer half the sedation. I did not want this but she said it was better. I recall the whole procedure which was horrific and has traumatised me I even recall staff discussing a previous patient with a similar name. I have still not recovered from this awful experience and I have blood shot eyes from gagging.

Appealing attitudes in the NHS

April 28, 2015
It was both as a relative and as an observer. It was just the appealing attitudes of staff. It was three years ago and I don't remember the wards number, both G wards. I complained at the hospital. My mother was in a bed and she became friendly with the patient opposite and when I saw her previously she had been sitting in a chair, when I saw her later she was in a bed and the hospital staff told me that she had fallen. I learned from the women opposite that she had been lying on floor for some time and that she had to draw this to the attention to the staff. She was also lying in a saturated bed. I told staff, they said they would change her sheets. Over an hour passed before she was dealt with. It wasn't just my mother, there were others in the ward suffering the same. I believe this is still the way the NHS treats people.

Good Hospital Transport

April 8, 2015
I am eligible for hospital transport which is great as with out it getting to West Suffolk Hospital would be very difficult for me. In the early days I would sometimes not be eligible and then be eligible the next time I called. Now I have no problems.
