Great midwives
Maternity

I've been able to see the same midwife for each visit and the whole team has been really great. Very happy with the care and advice given.

Amazing paediatrician and occupational therapist who support our child. We have open access to the paediatrician and the neonatal units toddler group is brilliant.
The care at all stages has just been so wonderful, can't thank them enough.

Generally very good on previous visits for operations. A&E didn't look at me at all when unable to walk and just told me to go home and rest for three days after I injured myself getting off a bus. I was seen for a total of three minutes after a 6 hour wait.

I was sent to A&E by my GP following a visit to see them but then when I got there they didn't know I was coming but the staff were wonderful and investigated everything quickly in 6 hours, I was well cared for.
Very disappointed with not being listened to.
Accident and emergency services

After arriving at A&E with an injured pinky finger after a fainting incident which meant I couldn't recall what exactly happened to cause my clearly very bruised and obviously painful finger, I was given an x-ray which showed no fracture in my finger bones but did show a closed fracture of the 5th metacarpal in my hand, I was told that this would be the cause of my pain in my finger and was discharged after my pinky was buddy strapped to the next finger, no strapping or anything for the boxers break which was picked up by the X-ray? I asked why my finger hurt so much and why I was so unable to bend it without severe pain when trying and I was just told to keep the buddy strapping on for a couple of weeks and take painkillers.
2 weeks later still in pain and unable to bend my finger, yet still no pain in the apparent fractured bone they said I had, I returned to a doctor to ask wether I should be concerned about the finger pain and inability to bend it still? And I was told there was no reason why I shouldn't be able to bend it and again told to take painkillers and self refer to physiotherapy, this Dr went ahead and when writing her notes in my gp records, she wrongly stated I wouldn't bend my finger, I'd made it clear more than once I COULD NOT bend it, I wanted to but couldn't! I asked if I might have damaged a tendon and she replied saying 'I'm not a specialist in that kind of injury'.
It's now been 6 months and still unable to bend finger, and finally after physiotherapist referred me to a Mri they have found I have indeed Broken the tendon in my finger and now I'm referred to see a orthopedic surgeon but I'll likely never regain the movement again due to the time since the injury! My estimated appointment to see the orthopedic surgeon is Sept 2024 which will be 13 months after an injury which would have required surgery within days to enable any chance of me having movement again.
Absolutely devastating experience

I've been very impressed with the care and treatment I've received it was really amazing and I found that my consultant was great, friendly and approachable. It's also good that appointments with the consultant are available at Sudbury Health Centre.

Great to hear the news that from April partners will be able to stay overnight, just a shame I'll miss out on this by just over a week, it would've been lovely to have that option. The facebook page for maternity is very good and support provided by staff has been wonderful. The only issue at the hospital is how busy the car park is, they've actually closed one this afternoon.

I live in an area where I can go to either Ipswich or West Suffolk hospital and I chose to come here for this birth and everyone has been so lovely and helpful. I haven't had many appointments but they've all been arranged well and I'm very pleased I made the decision to change hospital.
Long wait
Gynaecology
March 22, 2024
Getting the referral from my GP has taken 2 years and I was told that I would need to wait 36 weeks to be seen at the hospital but it has actually been half that which has been good. Patients have to push otherwise you get lost in the system and because you don't know the system and how it works it becomes difficult to get the support or treatment needed as you have to be let in with a referral. I wasn't even sure I'd been referred or to which department and there has been no information on what to do while I'm waiting. The letter just said the date, time and place of the appointment but not what I'm here to do or have done, I have no idea. More information in appointment letters would be good.

Attentive and efficient even when very busy and they keep you well informed and I have nothing but positive comments about the support provided.
