Rheumatology
July 9, 2024
I used to see my Rheumatology consultant each year where as now I get to see the nurse for 10 minutes instead.
Good with long term conditions
Urology

I went in to A&E and between 2pm and 6pm I was seen and then scanned quickly with them identifying what the issue was. I was then operated on the next morning. I had amazing care during my week long stay and the staff made sure I knew what was going on. The selection of food available was actually good and I was very happy with the options available. I felt I was discharged at the right time and had no issues when I returned home.
Communication
July 8, 2024
Communication between the hospital and the doctor is not always great and that's the biggest issue I face when attending health appointments. There should be a way of making it much easier for all parties involved.
Mixed
Pain management
July 8, 2024
The pain clinic just gives medication but doesn't really offer much else so I've decided to go private but the physios were great as I have a rare condition and then ensured I was referred on to the appropriate department. They were very knowledgeable.
Visiting regularly
July 8, 2024
I'm visiting twice a month at the moment and the appointments are arranged in advance so I can arrange help with transport which really helps. The staff have all been wonderful and are so caring at each visit. The flexibility of appointments is really appreciated.
Good but busy
Accident and emergency services
July 8, 2024
I was taken to hospital by ambulance and they were so busy they couldn't get me in to the department. I had to stay on the ambulance for two and a half hours and the two members of staff were lovely. The staff once I went in were wonderful as always and spent time with me and the doctors were great.
Brilliant
Cancer services

Absolutely brilliant staff. The whole system has worked well for me and they have always gone one step further and made sure my wife was both involved and also understood everything that was happening, checking our understanding along the way and providing brilliant explanations. The care provided by Macmillan staff has also been very supportive and ensured we had all information needed. During covid staff were amazing keeping my wife regularly updated while I was having treatment on the ward.

I was left shocked and upset
unknown
July 2, 2024
Autumn 2022, my sister in law died in West Suffolk hospital on the ward, I cannot remember which ward it was, I went up with my brother to say our final goodbye to his wife, when we arrived at the ward my sister in law's body was still on the ward with the curtains pulled around her, with other patients on the ward next to her and I saw nursing staff just laughing and talking together without any consideration for us, we didnt experience any gentle compassion from staff which was what we needed in that moment and I was so shocked that her body was still on the ward. It felt there was a real lack of dignity given to us all and it was very inappropriate behaviour from the staff. I was left feeling very upset and traumatised by it all and that experience has haunted me just by how it was for us, there was no privacy for my brother, I just could not believe that there was even a tea trolley outside the cutains, it was just so wrong and we could'nt talk with anyone, surley we needed to be treated better than that?
I was well looked after
AAU
July 2, 2024
I was taken to the hospital last week by emergency ambulance, I was told that the ambulance arrived within 10mins which was very good as we are very rural in location. I was firstly taken to A & E, I was collected about 1pm but was not admitted to A & E until after 5pm I was held on the ambulance for that time. I went to A & E department then to AUU then to the escalation ward, I was in for 4 days in total they gave me tests and treatment for my breathing issues. I did feel that they were thorough in all that they did to me and I was sent home much better.
